Redistribution of Taxes

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless  guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.     Once in the restaurant my server had on a  "Obama 08" button, again I laughed as he had given away his  political preference -- just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the  server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution  of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I  told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I  deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily  stormed from my sight.  I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10  and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use  the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific  redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful  for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that  I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient  deserved money more.  I guess redistribution of wealth is an  easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical  application.

This makes perfect sense to me.

Touche!   Now that was a great post.  I have never heard "redisribution" explained with such clarity.
Thank You...

My, wasn't that convenient that you just happened to come across a homeless man with a clever "Vote Obama" sign, and a waiter who also happened to be wearing a "Vote Obama" badge, in such close proximity to the aforementioned homeless man, which conveniently allowed you to come up with a clever little story?  I'm calling bullshit on it, because that's what it smells like to me.

You've got to be joking.  That's what Republicans think is humour?  No wonder they're going to lose.  Ah, well.  Shame SailingBum couldn't come up with something more original.

I guess they think stiffing servers is high comedy.

Having owned a restaurant, I have taken money out of the till to give to servers who were run back and forth by diners from hell, only to get stiffed. I'd say about 5% of diners are complete assholes who should have been left out on the hill to die after being born. Oh, I could tell some stories. Wonder why the OP brought to mind such pleasant memories?

The point being that it's a complete fabrication?  That's all we've had from the Republicans right along, so I suppose it makes sense that their "humour" wouldn't be any different.

Absolute genius! Wow. Okay, here's another one....

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need -- a homeless guy outside. Then he said, "Oh that's so wonderful of you! I never have any time to do things like that myself. Tell him to vote for Obama too!" I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10, and told him to give his vote to Obama in thanks.

Which do you think is more divorced from reality?

You have 10 milliseconds to answer.

A good joke is wasted on those without a sense of humor.  Worse, they'll try to to compensate with analysis.

The only thing that's divorced from reality is the opinion of people who actually think McCain and Palin are qualified to represent this country.  In any capacity.

Oh, do you know any good jokes?  Please share.  Because I've yet to see one in this thread.  I agree that Republicans are a joke, just not a good one.

There is another thing that is divorced from reality: your notion that you are on his side.

Well I edited it out to be kind. But I'll bite. What might an "original quotation" be?

The president and tools (Reed, Pelosi, Paulson and others) just re-distributed over trillion of dollars to bankers. Why can't little guy get something. Although, homeless folks need not to vote Obama. Obama talks about the middle class. Lower class (100 million or so) is fogotten, they get nothing.

People like you make me laugh because you never complain about your wealth being redistributed to the rich but only about your money being redistributed to people poorer than you.

A psychologist would probably say you were bitter at not achieving your goals in life and too aware you could end up in the same situation as the people you despise, ie. tthe waiter in this case.

Boy of boy, why can't American's see their wealth is constantly being redistributed up to the rich, it isn't as though anyone tries to hide the fact.

I wonder about people who deny a truth in a message and yet would accept the "clever little story" that Obama is selling to the public...just a guy who is doing this for YOU...just a guy who has discussed government projecting itself into our lives in a massive way, and calmly discusses how "government doesn't have all the answers" in a move to the political center.  True or not isn't the issue...the issue is redistribution of money earned by productive people to those who have not earned it....some would call it stealing.
