I suspect most live in the US because thats where they were born and they lack the funds or curiosity to even learn about, still less visit, still less move permanently to somewhere else. Its exactly the same here by the way - the only foreign experience most Brits have is their vacation to the Spanish coast where they live with Brits and in a commercial environment set up to be Britain Under The Sun.
As to mediocre, I have to disagree. From what I have learned here, the US is quite content as a whole with mediocre, as long as its the right kind of mediocre. But again, its the same here.
But I'm curious as to how its in any way different in the US when it comes to setting up a business. Here, unless one has wealthy backers one must go to the bank and borrow money - and unless one has some sort of security one will be out on one's ear. If its that easy to set up in business over there, and such is the American Dream (TM), and the last eight years have seen supposedly the most business friendly environment, then how come everyone isnt doing it? The reason everyone here isnt doing it, is because they lack the funding to do so- the know how, the drive or determination to do so is also important of course, but lacking money those other factors make one merely an employee at best.
