Evility -> This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 3:59:25 PM)

Any gun owners here? I'm more than a little surprised about the lack of attention being devoted among the political threads to Obama's and Biden's voting records over the years regarding guns. These guys definitely do not like the 2nd Amendment. I'm not presently a gun owner. I've thought about purchasing one for protecting my homestead but have never taken the plunge although I have taken a firearms safety course in the past several years. If Obama is elected I'll be buying at least one before January 20, 2009... while I still can.

yep!  you are right to do just that!  people are buying up guns & ammo in record numbers for the very reasons you stated![:D]

Either one of you have links to back up those assertions. As far as I know(and I suck at links) Obama has not threatened the 2nd ammendmant in any way.And I have heard nothing about a spike in gun sales....as I said I suck with links,so I'm not being snarky about it,but I believe both of the previous post's to be false

i am sure you will not approve of this link, but whateva![:'(]

Biden is a gun owner and apparently a skeet shooter. He's very emphatically not in favor of banning all firearms. Obama is not a registered gun owner but has made clear that he supports firearm access. Both favor gun control but not complete banning.

oooops.....also i do not need a link to confirm my other statement.  i was just shopping at a gun store the other day.  i inquired about sales.  gun and ammo sales are up big time, good buddy!

DedicatedDom40 -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 4:31:18 PM)

Im not anti-gun, but often times, the pro gun folks simply do not help themselves in their own cause.  The Second Amendment is hard enough to defend without giving the "Brady Bunch" ammo.

Personally, I would reject calling this type of accident a "self inflicted" gunshot wound and I would call it felony child neglect. What type of 8 year old has the physical fortitude to properly handle automatic weapon recoil?

I'm a gun owner but not a member of the NRA.  I"m not a hunter and have only killed one animal in my life years ago in Tennessee, which we ate, but I am still sorry for killing that poor thing.  I have several rifles a shotgun and other weapons that I enjoy shooting.  I believe an Obama administration and a Pelosi/Reid Congress would come for our guns
I think you should buy your weapons now.  Take the time to read up on what you might want to buy, check out a few stores, etc.

UncleNasty -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 5:19:29 PM)

There is also currently an increase in gun sales due to the faltering/failing economy. It usually happens at the onset of bad economic times.

Of course Obama is against the second ammendmant. See the Democrats are smarter then the Republican's in this regard. Democrats know that if they want to keep their worthelss corupt butts in Washington they better take away the guns from the real patriots of this country.

HunterS -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 5:46:16 PM)

How does Obama being president equate to more gun control?  Congress makes laws not the president.
If one were to do a little research on "the Brady" clan one would discover that they are both staunch republicrats...the most restrictive gun law in our country put up by republicrats.

Perhaps you should check your facts.  When in the history of the U.S. has the House and the Senate been all of one party?
While you are on google you might also check the make up of the Supreme Court and what they did vis-a-vis the Brady bill?  You might find a few surprises if you read before you write.
You might also want to consult a dictionary as to the meaning rather than the spelling of the word filibuster.

bestbabync -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 6:19:57 PM)

i never stated there was a time in history where the house & senate were all one party.  geeesh!

yes, so since Reagan, Bush, McCain & Palin are all prolifers. the prochoicers vote against the prolifers to protect Roe vs Wade.

i am all confused!  it matters sometimes but other times it doesn't.

stop you are causing my dumb uneducated stupid self to become confused....duh duh duh!

Irishknight -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 6:31:32 PM)

I know this is off topic, but people drive me crazy when they refer to the Senate and Congress.  The Senate is 1/2 of Congress.  Just in case I am totally unclear, the US Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and  the US Senate.
Okay, now back to your regular scheduled bickering.

bestbabync -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 6:33:20 PM)

you asked how in the future Obama being POTUS would have any bearing on gun bans.  then i made my stupid comment, but i never stated "just like in history" or "back in the day when" or "remember the time".........LOL

Cuffkinks -> RE: This election and the 2nd Amendment. (10/30/2008 6:35:24 PM)

I'm a gun owner and a concealed carry permit holder. I would hate to have to give up my guns. (And I'm putting that very lightly.) But if I have to, I will. In the grand scheme of things, I feel that would be the lesser of the evils considering the state this country is in now and who got us there. What's really a shame is that that's what we're faced with when it comes to whom to choose...the lesser of the evils. We don't vote for the one we like the most, we vote for the one we dislike the least.

Your correct the confusion comes in to the fact that Representatives are often referred to as congressmen (or women) while those in the Senate are of course called Senators.

Thankfully most of us got free citizenship and weren't required to pass that test.
