It is not too late...they are taking the sick, lame and lazy not to mention the blind crippled and crazy...just go down and ask ...trust me they will take you...but then getting shot at is a whole lot different than having respect for those who get shot at.

No it really is to late. I have to many dependents (last time I checked they wouldn't take me) and regardless to many responsiblities to walk away from.
You do bring up a good point, getting shot at is a whole lot different - and yeah such a concept is pretty scary so considering everything I have going on I don't think I would try to fight my way in there - if they would take me which regardless again don't think they would.

Would you believe me if I said it wouldn't matter. Fact is I have more aligned republican then democrat over the years - but I'm not overly friends to either. Regardless of if you believe me - Political party isn't playing a part of it.

Well again I'm not a pilot nor have any experience with combat and how it related to airplanes. What I know about Naval aviation comes from TOP GUN and JAG episodes. Who am I to judge?

It is his money.  Some homeless guy might think you are a not so nice person and believe you don't deserve to even have a kitchen table and a wobbly chair.  Who cares what he (McCain) spends HIS family's money on.  When those with less funds want to judge what others do with their own money it is a sad day.  As sad as those with much money wanting to make decisions for the poor.  Welcome to America, reality, welcome to Capitalism.

Okay Hippiekinkster...I also find it amusing that McCain drones on about his alleged 'experience' which he never would have been pemitted to attain if he were not a blue blood of some stripe.  Anyone seriously think Obama would have been recommended by his Senator to the U.S. Naval Academy back when McCain was admitted?

But war criminal?  I'd say not as far as I know...unless you count warmongering as a crime.

candystripper
Well, that's not the point of this thread; that's my own lukewarm (not strongly held) opinion.

The point is, how can one even pretend to understand what Joe and Sally Suburban are going through, losing their jobs and having their house foreclosed upon, when the McCain's spend more on freakin' MAIDS than 98% of people spend paying their mortgage?

Reminds me of Bush 1 when he went to a supermarket for a photo op. He had no clue as to how to buy a quart of milk. NONE! He'd never seen an optical scanner.

And these people are pretending to understand MY problems?

Post Scriptum: not surprised that most responders chose to ignore what my post was about, and comment on my last, admittedly inflammatory, sentence.

Typical class warfare rhetoric... the nerve of this guy, employing people and paying them well.

What should be done about it, to take guys like that down a notch... everyone should be poor, and miserable, huh.

Pfft. Biggest problem is though, Obama and Kerry and the Clintons... the Kennedys... they all have wealth too.

What do you call that - selective outrage?
Typical Sanity strawman argument. Oh, well, might as well...

Guess what? Kerry and the Clintons and the Kennedys aren't running. McCain is. You see the difference, don't you? Kerry isn't asking me to pretend he's a regular Joe the Plumber. McCain is. He wants me to pretend that he is the kind of guy I'd want to have a beer with because he's just regular folks. I'm supposed to overlook the fact that the only reason he got into Annapolis was as a Legacy. I'm supposed to ignore that he has no internal moral compass whatsoever, much like Newt and Guiliani. I'm supposed to ignore that he's bought his seat in the Senate, when the only reason he got there in the first place was his POW sob story.

This guy is point man for the worst excesses of the Calvinist New England Wasp tradition. And he can't even control his temper and his condescending disdain for his inferiors when the biggest prize of all is in the balance. He truly is an asshole.

My GF tried to early vote at the East Cobb Govt Center, donw the street (sort of) from me. She gave up after waiting in line for an hour. She said the wait was about 4 hours for early voting.  And she told me that periodically most of the line would break out in loud chanting support for Obama, as cars drove by and honked. This is simply remarkable. My zip code, and 30067, and 30062, along with some areas of Gwinnett County, North Fulton County, and Fayette County (where all the Delta pilkots live) pretty much determine how the state is going to go. Early voting is apparently 3:2 Obama/McCain. Hell, Obama might even take Arizona!!!

This is great! I hope the first thing Obama does is appoint some special prosecutors and go after the criminals who started this "war" and the massive redistribution of the wealth from the middle class to the rich and their corporations like Blackwater and Cheney's company (now HQ'd in Dubai; how patriotically American is THAT, huh?).

"ace" McCain lived on an aircraft carrier in air conditioned comfort and ate fresh cooked hot meals...the first contact he had with "battlefield dirt" came when he got his chicken shit ass shot down.
He is a lying, scheeming, cheating traitor...which he admits in his own words.
He hadn't been "in country" three days when they tried to "frag" him.

No, getting shot down was not  McCain's first brush with combat situation.  The carrier he was on had a jet explode and then a series of other serious explosions.  Men died fighting to save the ship while McCain  invoked his admiral heritage; asked to be taken off the carrier;  and was in fact taken off the carrier thereby showing the traits of cowardice.    I was raised with three men who held the Congressional Medal of Honor being frequent visitors at my home.  McCain is not a hero; he is a braggart.

If I'm not too mistaken, four years ago, there were a few vets who said things that lead me to believe that Sen McCain's heroism is only out-done by that of Sen Kerry.

The carrier he was on was called the Forrestal.  An airplane did not explode.  Some one "accidently" pickled a zuni rocket off of a Marine f4 into "ace" McCain's belly tank as he was sitting on the deck waiting to take off.  This was hardly a "combat situation".  What it is called is "fragging"

I doubt that the f4 was being controlled by a Marine.  If a Marine was responsible for the incident it would have been done properly.   My understanding of McCain's flying ability was that he crashed a record number of jets; that if he had not been an admiral's son that he would have been flying a desk for the rest of his career because of his inability to keep aircraft airborne; that had he been able to fly a couple more sorties  he would have been an ace..........in the North Vietnamese Airforce.  It never ceases to amaze me that given all the substantial questions about McCain's service that the new's reporters cave in and concede that McCain was a war hero.  No "hero" I have ever encountered even remotely tolerated the military being used as policemen.  McCain is a fraud.  Once you have met and spoken to the real deal, McCain is an easy read.

I had more respect for McCain before the election process then now. McCain said he was going to run a clean campaign then let the Rove types of this world change him…no backbone or too much ambition.

Money is the result of hard work or luck….but what does it have to do with character?
Hippiekinkster would money change you? What if you hit the lotto would you be a different person?

If he is an ass as you say then he would be an ass broke as well as rich.

Would money change me? Let me put it this way (not meaning to brag, either): my ex and I had a net worth of approx. 1.3 million when we split up. Our joint return AGI for that year was 272K and change. All I did differently then was travel a bit more. All my needs were fulfilled, and my wants are trivial. If I won the lottery (I don't gamble, and agree that the Lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math), I'd just bank it. I might experiment with living in another country, but that's really about it.

You guys are really being silly if you want to believe that the Forrestal incident was anything other then an accident. If someone wanted to "frag" someone they'd find a better way to do it then risk the lives of everyone on board this ship. The missle that launched from that F4 crossed the deck and struck the fuel tank on the plane next to John McCains. That was the start of a series of explosions which eventually killed 134 men. Not to mention the 62 other injured.

I don't really believe that anyone on that carrier would have done such a thing on purpose. Especially not to target just "1 guy".

Why remain patriotic Americans when the country is being taken over by looters, rioters and communists. They're SMART to move offshore, nothing wrong with flexing the old brain muscle.

The Forrestal  incident was literally a lifetime ago.  From my failing memory there was some allegation of an intentional act but the allegation fell by the wayside.   Hunter's allegation is unlikely but not "silly."  Unlikely, but possible.  Look at Oklahoma City.

I'm not sure your connection to the Oklahoma city - probably not important here though.

I don't have a reason to believe it was anything other then an accident but that is not exactly where I pulled the "silly" comment. Yes it is possible however unlikely that someone did it on purpose as an act of terrorism against the soliders fighting in Vietnam. Again unlikely.

But to say that it was an attempt to kill John McCain - a single individual? And a "fragging" by other sailors on ship who were trying to remove a bad apple? There is no way such an act would have been done in a way that eventually killed or injured 196 of their shipmates. Not to mention still missing their "actual target" --- This is what I am saying is "silly" to really believe.

The zuni rocket that was "accidently" launched from the Marine F4 did hit its "intended" target.  Remember both aircraft are on the deck and the Zuni relies on the attitued of the launch a/c for elevation control.
"Ace" McCain does in fact have five dead airplanes to his credit.  Some say that is why the Vietnamese wanted to give him back immediately...they thought he would be a greater asset to them if he were to continue to fly for the U.S.
I was on the Forrestal a few days before the fire and "ace" McCain was pointed out to me as someone who would most likely take a "swim" before his tour was over.   "Ace" has political pull and it would not be P/C for the govt. to admit that an admirals son was the target of a "fragging".  If it was in fact a "fragging" I doubt that those involved  ever considered for a moment that it would damn near sink the Forrestal
