TheHeretic -> Hopes (11/3/2008 6:44:09 PM)

      All the election build-up is done.  It's time.  Just a few last thoughts to send out on what I'm hoping for.

     First and foremost, I hope the result is clear and definitive.  No lawyers, no lawsuits.  I'd prefer if it wasn't even close, but I'll settle for clear.  We don't need to step into the next four years with half the country crying 'foul' and pouting.

      Right behind that, I hope that not one Democrat who has never voted for a Republican in his life starts tomorrow, just because of Barry's skin tone.  There are plenty of good reasons not to vote for him, but that shouldn't matter.

      If Barry wins, I hope it is an irrevocable step forward in our evolving race relations.

     What are you hoping for?

DarkSteven -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 6:49:08 PM)

TheHeretic, amen to everything you stated above.

In addition, I'd like to add that the losing party spend a lot of time in self-reflection and remaking itself.

And the winning party as well.  The Dems are mired in class struggle that has been passe for decades.  And the GOP is driven by ideologues that brook no dissent and refuse to recognize a need for change.

I'd like the Dems to quit thinking that government is the answer for everything and the GOP to quit thinking that guvernment spending is great as long as tazes aren't raised and the deficit will never need ro be repaid.

Musicmystery -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 7:01:36 PM)

Agreed both.

I hope the world doesn't blow up or something. or that we get a one term president.

slvemike4u -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 8:54:35 PM)

I'm hoping some of us can learn the man's name....or failing that will refer to him simply as The President.

BitaTruble -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 9:21:04 PM)

I'm hoping that people will realize that voter supression is just not funny. I am, however, quite pleased that the two guys who made flyers with false information stating that republicans were to vote on Tuesday and democrats on Wednesday were arrested this evening. [:)]

DomKen -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 9:24:28 PM)

I'm hoping for many things.

1) GWB will fail to pardon all of his cronies or a brave SCOTUS will determine that no one can be pardoned for something they are not yet convicted of.
2) That every US citizen who tries to cast a legal vote tomorrow does and every one is counted correctly.
3) Dole and Bachman are soundly defeated to show that such blatant intolerance will not be tolerated.
4) That Californians reject prop 8.
5) That South Dakotans reject the extreme anti choice ammendment.
6) That the age of the politics of personal destruction is over.

Owner59 -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 9:26:42 PM)

My hope was that voter suppression wouldn`t have an affect this year.

To my great joy,most of the law suits and under-belly efforts have been thwarted .

my hope is that one day our biggest concern in this country is what Kirata has stated above.....

candystripper -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 10:04:41 PM)

I hope we ratchet down the snarkiness level.  I hope we get over ourselves.

That may seem too little to care about, but it's everyhere. It's in the egg tray in the frig and the bedroom wastepaper basket, LOL.  Ya, I like politcs as much as the next guy but enough already.  I don't want to hear about it when I'm buying gas or getting my hair done or talking to my UM.

There are plenty of lawyers poised to litigate if the election doesn't suit them.  I hope if any of them sends the election results into play, they all get disbarred or prosecuted for treason.  I was so pissed at Gore for introducing that anxety into the process, and I really, really hated that the Florida Supreme Court was dragged into the process.  If anything should not be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts it's election results, for Gawd's sake.  Voters shouldn't be shoved aside and supplanted by a judicial decision.

If Gore was all hacked off about the deprivation of someone's vote in South Florida, as he claimed, where the hell was he after the election?  Why didn't he lobby Congess for adequate reforms to the process?  Ya -- he cared alright.  Just not after it didn't serve his purposes anymore.

Hoping for a dem vicotry because he won't try to put inSupreme Court justices to topple Roe v Wade.
Hope that anything and everything that is affirmational of personal freedoms is voted for.
Hope that the election is decisive and that there's no 'funny stuff' like last time.
And, I hope that, when they have to drag GW out of the Oval Office in January that someone tasers his ass, lol!  :>

I'm hoping the republican party as a whole gets totally destroyed. Obliterated. The greater the humiliation, the happier I'll be.

atursvcMaam -> RE: Hopes (11/3/2008 10:35:52 PM)

i hope that everyone has a great day, gets out to vote, that someone has the sense to keep energy prices in line, and that Biden was wrong especially if his candidate wins.

It was on the news but there will probably be a link up no later than tomorrow. Apparently two college students who called it a 'joke that got out of hand.' No doubt they'll get out in plenty of time to vote. [8|]

Didn`t they endorse McCain?

That alone is enough reason to Barack the vote.

I'm hoping every American who can vote does.  I also hope that people vote for the ticket of their choice because they understand just how important their decision this time is for the future of our country.  Voting against Bush, as so many on the left view election day is certainly their right but kinda silly when you should be voting for Barack of McCain because you have some idea what he will do as leader of the country.
McCain is pretty much an open book since he has a record to review from taxes, to correctly seeing the problem coming with the GSE's, to bi-partisan immigration reform (which pissed off his base) to being well prepared to be Commander in Chief durng these turbulent times and get the respect of the world.
Barack is an also an open book but is still in re-edit.  Who he is, what he stands for, his principles, all change with the polls and current events.  Should he be elected, we WILL get out of Iraq sooner than under McCain which sounds great if you agree that abandoning people in Iraqi who are friends of the U.S.A. the way the democrats deserted our VietNam friends. It will be terrific for the Sierra Club and radical "greenies" as we put into affect significant fines against American industry for carbon emission, and maybe people in YOUR family lose jobs because companies don't build plants here but move to other more business friendly countries.  It will be great for Barack supporters to have his radical "friends", and their friends who have been waiting or hiding since the 1960's, have fantastic "Victory over Capitalism" parties to celebrate their achieving what eluded them forty years ago, the take-over of the government.  It will be such a great world for those people who manufacture "windmills" and the end competitors such as Oil, natural gas, clean coal and full stop for nuclear.  Of course, Barack and the democrat radical environmentalists have no idea what actually allows a windmill to turn and there will be a tremendous backlog and scarcity and brown-outs of energy as the economy corrects and starts to improve, and  we wait for key parts for the turbine to be delivered from the current one year plus wait,  and the infrastructure to be built.
Oh..and it will be great to see our President sitting down for tea with the heads of Iran, Cuba and Venezuela, apologizing for the Bush administrations stand on despots and having a cup of hot tea...one sugar please.  It will be wonderful to see the opportunites for advancement in the miltary for so many as senior officers decide that life is too short to serve under and defeatist President who has never supported the military and has a Congress with the likes of Barney Frank who want to substantially reduce military funding.  Barack has a plan, however.  He doesn't need a military for the security of our country.  He is going to have his own army of "volunteers" to protect ...to protect...that part I'm not sure. but led by Capt. Crunch and Pvt. Parts.

I was going to link all of Obama's statements, but they have been linked previously and you can google them, "Barack on bankrupting the coal industry", "Barrack wants to form a NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE", "Barack on bitter people clinging to their guns and God", etc etc...Google also has some great references to The Weathermen, Tony Rezko, William Ayers, Saul Olinsky, ACORN, Rev. Wright, and all of Obama's friends, assocates and people who he respects.

I also would not rule out Obama changing the 4th of July holiday celebrating our Independene to April 15th, when the democrat party celebrates receiving our money.

Hope is a wonderful thing...that's what sells lottery tickets.....but not a reason to elect a President.
