Didn`t they endorse McCain? That alone is enough reason to Barack the vote.

What a clever fellow you are. Did they?

Actually, it was supporters of Al Qaeda who urged (via a web posting) a pre-election attack apparently because in their dim-witted mind a McCain presidency would be good for Al Qaeda.

Needless to say, Al Qaeda knows better.

In fact, one theory suggests that some deliberate reverse-psychology may be in play, hoping to dupe gullible Americans into voting for the candidate they would much prefer to see elected.

But who would be dumb enough to fall for that, eh?

K.

Where's that Illuminati/conspiracy theories thread again?

All the election build-up is done.  It's time.  Just a few last thoughts to send out on what I'm hoping for.

First and foremost, I hope the result is clear and definitive.  No lawyers, no lawsuits.  I'd prefer if it wasn't even close, but I'll settle for clear.  We don't need to step into the next four years with half the country crying 'foul' and pouting.

Right behind that, I hope that not one Democrat who has never voted for a Republican in his life starts tomorrow, just because of Barry's skin tone.  There are plenty of good reasons not to vote for him, but that shouldn't matter.

If Barry wins, I hope it is an irrevocable step forward in our evolving race relations.

Nice.

I like those, I would like to add that I hope that people will be able to move beyond accusations and really look at some of the issues.

There for a minute, I had posted elsewhere, and some hard core fanatics had me thinking we just might be heading for a fricking civil war. I got to a point it was, k
bring it.

My hope is the religious right that has reached forward and grabbed the steering wheel of the Conservatism bus from the back seat finally lets go before the damn thing crashes.

Palin = more backseat driving.  Say no to both.

I hope McCain wins. That he is the better candidate, the better leader, and the better choice is patently obvious.

If the One wins, I hope he will not be assassinated, thus earning a larger mention in the history books than the tiny footnote on American folly that is his due. I also hope the mental paralysis that afflicts him whenever decisions are required does not cost too many American soldiers' lives.

Ever gracious and analytical.

Hardly. I am not gracious towards those whom I hold in contempt.

Oh good grief!

CL what is obvious to you,is not necessarily obvious to others, that is why we hold the election, rather than just asking your opinion...
Fear not about his place in American history, that has already been set in stone...his Presidency, should it come to pass, will simply add to this .
As far as costing American soldiers their lives, perhaps less family's will receive those folded American flags ,than were handed out during the Bush Administration
p.s will you go thru his Presidency referring to him as the One,and have you had it trademarked.Perhaps you could sell t-shirts or something....

It may be a step forward, but not really. In my opinion, until a significant amount of  hearts and minds change, this country will never reach that racial utopia. If one even exists.

Obama is not a magic wizard that, once elected, will change bias, prejudice and injustice. It just doesn't work that way. He will have an uphill battle trying to effect the change he wants in government policy, that's why those who support him, need to do more than just vote, they have to be willing to get in the trenches for the next four years and put pressure on their congressional representatives to support policies that will help us all.

In additon, I feel that there needs to be more community activism at the grassroots level. In another thread there was talk about looking out for family and although I had some issues with some of the assertions, I do agree that we need to get back to caring about our neighbors. There are some areas across the nation that need some serious TLC, but it will come from within, not from outside.

I hope, after this election, people have enough hope to move to action and take the steps necessary in everyday life to make this country and world a better place.

Oh, I'm sure I'll come up with a variety of epithets to describe him. Or he might surprise me, let the testicles drop, and actually do something to be worthy of being considered a man (no, I'm not holding my breath on that one).

Musicmystery -> RE: Hopes (11/4/2008 10:15:00 AM)

celtic,

you used to be better than this.

I don't want McCain in the Oval Office for a host of reasons, from Iraq to the economy to his tendency to just shoot from the hip. But I don't call him names, and I respect the man.

Sarah Palin was, in my view and many others, including many publicly vocally Republicans, a poor choice---but I don't call her names either. The election will decide this.

I hope you'll return to the days of reasoned responses, instead of embracing your new choice of role as a small man.

Honestly, not sarcastically. Let the old cl come back, disagreeing with some class.
