PETA is completely indefensible. If you are interested in stopping animal abuse there are plenty of organizations that hire calm, rational people who know how to work with companies, politicians, communities, etc. to make real changes. PETA euthanizes 1,000's of animals that they swear will get new homes. They advocate the firebombing of medical labs. They break into mink/rabbit/chinchilla farms and release the animals into the wild. Where they strave to death unless they are lucky enough to meet a swift end as a meal for a predator. They are domestic terrorists, plain and simple. BTW: Fur is not just for rich bitches - I know - I bought 1 for my wife back when I had a real job. It's waist-length and it was only $500 - less than many leather coats. By contrast, a full-length silver chinchilla was $20,000. Just one touch and you would know it was worth every penny... <sigh> There's absolutely no reason to hunt whales. We can't gow them on ranches. Once they're gone that's it. And it's not even a fair fight. Whaling ships are basically hi-tech factories. They have every gadget imaginable to find them: radar, sonar, GPS, the works! The harpoons they use are shot from canons. The tips pierce the skin - several inches worth - and then explode. No exceptions are made for females, pregnant or otherwise. It's absolute horrendous. ~Dave
