I just got back from voting (Yay me!) and I have to say that it was, as usual, painless and easy. No line, no wait for me. We use optical scanning here. Sign in to get your ballot, go to the booth and fill in the bubble for your choices, then scan it yourself into the optical scanner after which it spits out a receipt which gives you cross-checking capability. Wonderful system and I've never heard of any problems in Minnesota. Since we've always had a high voter turn-out here (generally coming in #1 in voter turnout) with few problems, I would love to see this method used as the model for federal elections. In the event of a scan issue, you've got a paper-back up without any hanging chads etc. So, any lines for the collarme folks? What kind of method was used where you vote? Any problems?

My daughter and I just got back from voting and it was quick and easy. We use the touch screens here. It was my daughters first time so it was extra special, I took her out to lunch to celebrate. She was happy for people to see her "I voted" sticker on her sweater. ~Lashra

I voted absentee ballot. I work 70 miles from where I have to vote. It was extremely painless. I like that I am able to sit down at the computer with a cuppa, during a quiet time at home, investigate all of the candidates and issues and vote informed.

i waited until Barack and the motorcade left the area before voting. the lines where i voted this morning were as long as the library during early voting however no one was complaining. you could feel the excitement in the air. even though the polling place has 3 districts crowded into one place, my voting experience was a breeze. easy in and easy out.

We use touch screen here in NJ. Easy-peasy, in and out. I caught it at a quiet time, fortunately - the workers said it had been a very busy day.

I live far out in the country. I walked in, said hello, signed my name, and voted.

We have the touchscreen with the card that you insert as a ballott...It took me about 10 minutes but earlier in the day before the work hours it was about a 40 minute wait. Took my son for his first vote....he wears his I'm a Georgia Voter peach sticker with pride!....as does his Father!

Absentee ballot,quick and painless....if not a little disconcerting,will it be counted?(casting a New York ballot,sort of gives me peace of mind on that score,New York is going Democratic no matter what)

We three got to the polls 10 before they opened and then had a 37 minutes wait. Early voting blew away all voting in the primaries which had overshadowed voting here for something like 70 years. I used the new machine -- little X showed up next to the candidates I choose -- the guys had the older machines where little lights came on. Frankly I had to shade my eyes to see the computer screen clearly so I'm not impressed by the new machine. I checked over my vote but once I hit "enter" I have no idea if it counted things as I marked or not. I wish we had a paper trail, I can't see how it would hurt anyone to have a record of how they voted. The guys wore their "I Voted" sticker to work today -- since I'm just at home today mine went in my memory book along dozens of others from my lifetime of voting.

I'm getting my luch break from being an election judge and things have going smoothly although we have long lines. We have optical scan and so far so good.

Touch screen here. We had two lines. One for those who lived in the township and those that lived.....in town. The township line was out the door and around the corner. In town line was about 30 minute wait. Not bad at all. The attitude of everyone was awsome.

No wait for me! This was my first time using a fill in the blanks. When I lived in Indiana it was computerized. Nice and easy here.

In and out in 10 minutes, too. 3 people waiting ahead of me. I want us to go back to paper ballots. Hate those Diebold atrocities. I heard on NPR that PA was completely screwed. Philly and Pittsburgh (democratic precincts, of course). Gonna be some lawsuits over it, I imagine.

Sunbury PA voting machines are not tabbing straight tickets. [I heard this AM on npr] I voted absentee, paper ballot. One reason was to write in my write in. But also I wanted to dig and select who I deeply thought would be best. diabold makes ATM machines tho. the problem is totally electronic but that the narrow time frame that no errors can happen. consider 2000. they had to have it down by a certain date to print inaugural tix. I said, why would that matter- wouldn't the same people attend? HAAAAAAAAAAAA! anyhow- not much mention on states rights this time. we probably need a longer campaign time for that. (gags)

I voted by absentee ballot, first time I've ever done it that way. BTW pahunk, Diebold also makes cash registers. They make loads of stuff and I am unsure why you keep mentioning the ATM thing.

It was very similar here: the lines were very early this morning and had subsided by the time we hit the polling station. Paper ballot then, scan with receipt (it scans either sides, which I thought was brilliant). Pretty much perfect, no complaints here. The staff even gave me a little sticker to make up for the fact I couldn't vote :-) .bAnd now I wait eagerly for the results...
