NoCalOwner -> RE: "Registered" slave website? (8/19/2004 1:25:57 PM)

My slave, Zoot, is #313879, registered as belonging to me since December '95. Following gay marriage's rise to prominence as a social/political issue a few years back, we found ourselves wondering about the limitations on officially sanctioned relationships. Why NOT gay marriage? Why NOT polygamy? I can see how the courts might have a hard time with things like probate or child custody issues if everyone were allowed to marry as many people of whatever types as they liked, but... isn't that why our tax dollars pay the salaries of judges? So they can serve us, not the other way around? Anyway, we are not pleased at the way government tells us what sort of relationships deserve special legal rewards and which deserve to be ignored or criminalized. Since we couldn't go down to City Hall and get official status as slave and owner there, I thought that the Slave Register was a cool idea. Worth an investment of 2 minutes of typing, anyway. She doesn't have a tattoo, but she does have her number engraved on a collar tag. Of course, it's purely symbolic, and has little practical use -- no rights of survivorship, no tax breaks. Kind of like being engaged, or being collared. I guess that one could use it to Google someone's D/s name with "site:www.slaveregister.com" to try to see if the person was available or not.
