michael.. is everything in your world such absolute shit? does NOTHING mean anything to you?  I feel deeply sorry for you that you seem to be trapped so deeply in your negativity.

I wouldn't have thought of it before seeing this thread, and I probably still won't be able to do it, but the obvious attraction is that it will be one of the most important events in American history.

my looking towards the future as opposed to dwelling on the past is negativity? i prefer to think of it as moving forward. hoping that the best is yet to come. the past is the past, it should be left there. that's all i'm trying to say

GreedyTop -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 10:13:36 PM)

no, michael.. but every post I've seen you make has been negative.
You've brought negativity to this thread, and almost every other thread I've seen you post on (the only exception I've seen has been the 'what am I proud of' thread).
Whats so bad about the art museums? The Smithsonian, which celebrates man's achievements? DC has great restaurants, lovely public spaces, etc.

By ignoring the past, how can you fully appreciate the present and future?

Sad. Just.... sad.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 10:20:31 PM)

to each their own. i can appreciate the future without looking backwards to the past. maybe i'm just unique that way

GreedyTop -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 10:55:39 PM)

well, then do us all a favor and quit raining on our parades, would ya?

No, deluded. You don't truly understand how things came to be and how they will become without understanding how they got to be. Your appreciation of what will come is richer for understanding the weaves of interaction and struggle that brought them to this point.

I was starting to wonder if it would have to be me to point out Santayanna's famous statement. Thanks.

An update for anyone coming in to the inauguration, every hotel and motel I called tonight was booked except for some with high end suites well out of my price range, $1000+ per night. We're going to have to fly into Richmond and rent a car and drive up.

justgemmie -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/7/2008 6:58:08 AM)

DominaSmartass - thank You.  that is indeed a very kind and generous offer.

DomKen -- that so sucks  :(   DominaSmartass was kind enough to offer to host that'll help some folks.  i'll talk to my roomie about hosting a few also.

I so wish I could go.

michael.. [sarcasm]yeah, a visit to the Nation's capital is always a waste.  The museums alone aren't worth a plug nickle. /sarcasm

Well in all fairness to Michael....your not going to be there, as far as I know Lady H won't be there....so yea not worth the trip. Maybe in 2012?

And the Hard Rock Cafe...ok so it's not a historic site, but you have to eat some time.

justgemmie -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/7/2008 7:15:58 AM)

amen boi!  there's a Mexican place by where i work that has THE absolutely bestest guacamole in da world (they make it fresh at your table), and to be honest, i love a good hot dog from a street vendor :)

GreeneGoddess -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/7/2008 7:21:58 AM)

If you go to DC - go see the Spy Museum - it was FUN!

If you're looking for hotel space, think Baltimore, Annapolis, etc.   They are within an hour drive and will be a lot cheaper.   There's also a great BDSM club in DC called the Crucible that is open most weekends.

justgemmie -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/7/2008 7:33:17 AM)

greetings GreenGoddess :)

You're right about looking further out.  and we've talked about the Crucible earlier in the thread.  that wednesday night they have an "Eat-n-Beat" so you can have a fabulous home cooked meal then use their great dungeon space.   www.the-crucible.com  btw.  that saturday night, however, is a swingers event.

No, Boi.. I won't be there..but it is certainly not because I don't want to be, nor is it because I think there's nothing worth seeing or doing there.
