Even without a ticket there will be plenty of places to watch things. That said, this year is going to have unprecedented security, if the things I know from my work are in fact true. In addition, remember that one year, the parade and all out door activities were cancelled at the last minute dues to some horrendous windchills. I believe the President-elect took the oath outside but everything else was cancelled. To be honest, the best place to watch it all is in front of one's TV -- even though I love only a few miles from it all. My office is blocks from the White House, so if we have a work crew that day, I might volunteer as it will get me very close to the action. Good luck all... ETA -- given that they are already constructing viewing stands and stuff -- disrupting things around town, by the time it gets there, as someone who lives and works here, I will personally be sick of the whole thing... *grin* history or not
