justgemmie -> Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 7:38:49 AM)

greetings A/all  :)

as everyone knows, President-Elect Obama's inauguration is Tuesday, January 20th.  several folks on another thread put out the idea that if any of cm's folks are going to be in (or already are in) DC, getting together for a bi-partisan celebration.  slvemike4u is coming to town, i live here, windchymes is just over in virginia, DomKen has shown an interest ~~ hence, this thread.

first, i'd like to say that i've searched around all the hotels i know of personally in the area, and those are all booked already.  so if you're planning on coming down and don't have a hotel yet, i'd suggest you book immediately.

as to before and/or after inauguration things to do, we talked about, if nothing else, meeting for dinner on the 20th and simply meeting, enjoying each others' company, and having a munch type of thing.  if folks are still here on wednesday evening, the local bdsm club, the Crucible, has it's monthly "Eat-n-Beat" where for $30 you can have a fantastic home cooked meal and then use their spacious dungeon for a whippin good time  [;)]   there is also the possiblity that we could rent out Baltimore's bdsm club, but that depends on the number of committed folks to that cause we have to pay for the rental (has to do with Baltimore's laws and it having to be a "private" dungeon).

anyway, i thought this thread would be a good way to start, to see if there's any interest ..........

well wishes,
gemmie

DomKen -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 7:44:23 AM)

We're definitely going to be in D.C. for the inauguration. Our housing options seem to be down to hotels in Baltimore or pet's uncle in Richmond. I don't relish driving from either into D.C. but have no other real options and since pet has already spoken to said uncle about us coming we may be stuck with the long drive from Richmond. In which case I doubt we'd be up for anything kink related.

Actually I didn't plan on it, I figured they didn't need my help and everything would be fine without me, but those other activities sound interesting.

huh?

Im pretty sure I am washing my hair that day.

Im not one for crowds and particualary "security" run amuck.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/ron-paul-no-change-is-on-the-horizon.html        Obamas change tho- isnt Ron Pauls change.

Im glad Obama won over McCain, but the thing is- when the entire financial system no longer functions, then a pep rally isnt going to feed  the jobless hungrey masses.

November 17th we take a step down.

Simply put every one can not have a pony.  The pony needs feed and watered.

DomKen,I am staying in the Holiday Inn at the Baltimore Airport, reasonable rates and I am told 1 hour mass transit to Washington. But probably what I will do is drive to a metro stop closer to Washington, park and take the train a couple of stops. Will have my son with me ,but I drive an SUV...and would be happy to share this commute with you and your pet(a little on the down low as to L/S in front of my son though)If this sounds good and you would like the number to the hotel(they have rooms available) get in touch on the other side and I will send you all information.Boy am I looking forward to this trip.

slvemike4u -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 11:42:45 AM)

Okay quick update...yesterday I made reservation at the Holiday Inn Baltimore International Airport...total price 630 dollars for 3 nights. In getting the number for another poster I rechecked priceline.com listing for this hotel...they are now quoting a 299 a night room fee...The great American Way,supply and demand at it's best.Make your reservations as quickly as possible, the prices will just go up.Find Hotels further out if you must and use mass transit.....just come if you can in anyway swing it.History does not often give you a date and time when it shall happen....Mike

Hit the Holiday Inn, Best Western or Marriott among others at Dulles airport. From the airport there are no lights via the toll rd all the way to D.C. or the Vienna subway station whichever suits you.

would be a wasted trip for me anyway...nothing interesting to see or do there

GreedyTop -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 5:24:29 PM)

I so wish I could go.

michael.. [sarcasm]yeah, a visit to the Nation's capital is always a waste.  The museums alone aren't worth a plug nickle. /sarcasm

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 5:34:39 PM)

Hmmm... nothing to see or do in DC...

Smithsonian, Madame Tussauds, Nat'l Museum of the Marine Corps, National Geographic Society Museum, National Air and Space Museum (but it's pretty empty(!), National Postal Museum (but the line is always too long(!), Library of Congress, National Museum of Natural History, International Spy Museum (you have to get in undetected(!), College Park Aviation Museum and a few hundred others.

Couldn't find any sort of NASCAR museum or Red Neck Heritage Foundation...  :D

Allways wanted to go to Washington, being a proud American and all that stuff, anyway fast forward...shortly after my divorce ,raising my son alone I decided what the fuck go.So I booked a trip there for 5 days 4 nights....took my than 12 year old son sight seeing....we ended up staying  10 days  and I still felt we had just scratched the surface. What a treasure trove of history, museums and memorials.Best vacation I ever took my son on,I can't imagine a more interesting or inspiring walking history lesson than a walk thru our Naion's capitol....I so look forward to returning there if only for a brief trip

DominaSmartass -> RE: Anyone coming to DC for the Inauguration? (11/6/2008 9:30:47 PM)

I live in the area and am open to hosting people if needed. Have room for 4-6 guests depending on how tightly we pack it.
