President Elect Obama has even said partisianship is over! President Elect Obama says he believes we as the greatest nation in the world should begin our work to become even greater! he promised to reunite this nation and put party politics behind us. President Elect Obama is willing to welcome all of us to join in his dream for this country. all americans, no matter their party affliation have expectations and desires for the future of this country. President Elect Obama promised "change and hope"! was that for just the people that voted for him or for everyone?

i am proud of my country and believe with all my heart that we can recover from our economic problems. my hope is that President Elect Obama brings prospertity to our country.

What if we don't want any part of his dream? What if we want to keep what we earn and not have it stolen from us and passed to those who didn't earn it? What if we don't want universal "death" care? What if we want to maintain our Constitutional rights? What if we actually want him to take his presidential oath seriously and not pursue a private agenda?

What if we don't want to be dragged into this "dream?"

And what if he has lied all along? What if you don't want what his real dream is?

We can recover from our economic problems, but it will not happen by embracing socialism. Socialism will make things worse; they always do.

here here. couldnt agree more.

Hope was the last thing to emerge from Pandora’s box, some say it be the cruellest of afflictions.[8|]

This already happens (as does income redistribution; just look at ss, ssi, and tax breaks for parents).

Boy, you must have good insurance.  Lots of working folks don't.

I found this part ironic, considering the last 8 years.

Obama's been tarred with that brush for months, and it's still bogus.  The same with claims that he's the "most liberal" in the Congress (every Democratic candidate since the '80s or so has been billed as the "most liberal".  There's a declared socialist in Congress right now, fer crying out loud.  He's not a Democrat.)

bestbabync:  Wonderful wish.  However, I fear your hope will be dashed.

If your not bringing home 250 grand a year(that`s a thousand dollars a day)your taxes won`t go up and you`re whining over nothing.

If you are bringing in more than 250 grand a year(a $1000 a day),I really don`t care if you have to pay a little more.

Tough cookies.

And if you don`t want any part of it,move.

Try to make your quarter million somewhere else....

Well that little quote thing wouldn't have worked so well if you hadn't snipped it where you did .In the interest of honesty let's restore what he had said.

That doesn't seem like the essence of socialism to me,seems like a graduated (progressive)tax policy at work....and I agree with him,if you have to pay a bit more I really don't care!

Time will tell if he is just another puppet.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: my hope for President Obama and this country (11/8/2008 10:36:07 PM)

The more I think about it and watch all the economic news the less I think the president is going to matter at all. It is looking more and more like a 50 ton ball of financial stupidity rolling towards a house built of paper walls, and suddenly we elect Obama, and somehow the laws of physics no longer apply. LOL.

If you add up the total sum of the current round of government meddling it comes to 3 trillion dollars. Our total GDP in 2007 was like 13 trillion dollars, that is not including debt accrued, nor is it accounting for the fact that we are not at the bottom yet as this quarter the GDP will almost certainly shrink more than last. The forecasts from nearly every company indicate as much. Thus that 3 trillion if the current view of the Federal government holds will almost certainly double by the time everything is said and done.

Now, what exactly is a president going to do, really, especially ones like Obama, or Mccain if he had won, as neither are really into changing the fundamental flaws in the system that lead to situation like this.

So, we are looking at least IMO, 6 trillion or more in government debt/risk/investment/new money/ rocking the economy, we are looking at more layoffs if the companies forecasts are to be trusted, and we are looking at a contracting GDP.

Anyway, Collapse is looking more likely all the time or eventual severe inflation, once this temporary dollar strength goes away which nearly every economist I've seen says it will, because the factors contributing to it are temporary.

Trully, the only thing that would have saved this country IMO, would have been to let the destruction occur when it would have naturally. Now, we are simply routing money from the productive economy(that which is profitable) to that section which is fucked (financials, crappy companies), and expecting a stronger system to result.

Hrmmm, something is not right.

Anyway, It is really a perverse situation, and I don't see how Obama is going to poof it away. The damage is already done, even if you bring in the finest doctor in your opinion,  it doesn't matter if the body is missing the head. What the hell is he going to do?

No, I'm thinking about socialism, the second most heartless and amoral political/economic philosophy on the planet (pure communism being the first).

Owner59 -> RE: my hope for President Obama and this country (11/8/2008 11:13:19 PM)

Socialism is using 700 billion in taxpayer dollars to bail out banks.

How many billions now to bail out Detriot?

Thanks neo-cons....
