Status: offline 		We've all heard the phrase: Assume makes an ass of u and me. Why do people say this? It seems a subtle way of saying "You're an ass for assuming" but then it would stand to reason it also says, "I'm also an ass" (from the "and me" part).

I think it's a silly phrase. First, I don't think I'm an ass when someone makes an assumption about me, and second, why would I go around saying "Hey I'm an ass" ??

These are the things I think about on a lazy Saturday morning.

Any other silly phrases that just don't make sense like that?

Status: offline 		Never say never always bothered me.  It's a paradox in and of itself.

Assumptions are very annoying depending on the conversation.  So when you're first meeting someone, yes it's pretty natural to assume a few things right off the bat.

But maybe you're talking politics right?  And maybe you slip up with certain phrasing or posing and all of a sudden the person you're talking to jumps on you.

"Oh so women are the problem, right?"
"...No that's not what I meant at all..."

See that?  Annoying.  He/she made an assumption and put words in your mouth to lower you in the conversation.

OH NO!

I know every single word to that song,, thanks to one drunken night where my friend insisted on learning to "booty dance", and played it for HOURS in the living room while I was trying to (drunkenly) edit a paper.

So many times I ended up accidentally typing the lyrics into my paper.
