ORIGINAL: theobserver The following is a concern troll post (read at your own risk): MzMia does not need defending, but I'm going to step in. This, post was started because this is the way she feels, just as everyone else has commented on various things around this forum and expressed their opinions and frustrations. What I find most interesting is that, you immediately come in to hand swat and chastise, instead of trying to have a real dialogue with her about it. This is not just about CM, it's the prevalent attitude that some in our society have no right to voice their concerns, if others don't believe there's a concern to be addressed. I'm not trying to be the race police on CM, I never came here for that. I never introduced myself as The Black Observer. However, give myself and MzMia the freedom, as you have, to take in and express the pride not only for our country but the evolution of our forefather's struggle in this country - with the ascension of President elect Obama. With the history and even current state of America, why would anyone deny that to their fellow citizens? Racism still exists, yes, but instead of being veiled in white pointy hoods, it's locked away behind the doors of corporate America and used to divide and conquer the masses. Keep the masses ignorant in the living room, while they sneak all the valuables out the backdoor. If you are not making the racist comments she was alluding to, then why do you care if she feels the way she feels? She never specifically called anyone out in her original post. I find there is a lot of insecurity in the fact that some of you keep coming back to this thread to swat MzMia on the hand. It's a very paternalistic attitude ... now what does that remind me of? Hmm. I said before the election that, now would be the perfect time to work congruently through our issues with race in an open fashion, along side our economic, educational, energy and safety plans for the future. When will that talk be had, this is CollarMe, but we got to start somewhere. All it takes is one person to get the ball rolling. However us sniping back and forth about this is going nowhere. Thanks darling. I have noticed that even if/when I try to attempt to explain, it often does little good. I have been posting on OffTopics for over a year, and many posts are actually "comments" on how that particular poster is thinking or feeling. A lot of my posts are just that, my thoughts. I would even guess that about 90% of the posters are posting "their thoughts". We all are allowed to post "our thoughts" and "our opinions" until the moderators feel we have crossed "the line". I may not agree or like many of the posters or a lot of what people may write online, but if the moderators allow them to post, then they have the right to post. Freedom of speech, means just that "freedom of speech". We have the right to say what we want {within the guidelines}, we have the right to agree or disagree {within the guidelines} and we have the right not to read what we find offensive, etc. We used to joke about blocking people a lot, but the feature is there and maybe some should use it. I am sitting here laughing about how funny it would be, if I felt the need to comment on all the posts and posters I did not agree with on a daily basis. Life is just too short, people need to do what they need to do. Then move on. Thank you very much theobserver. There is certainly a lot to observe online. [;)]
