DesFIP -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 4:56:10 PM)

Paranoia?

I've never been stalked or harassed. I've gotten angry emails in return to turning someone down, but not over and over again.
Most of us don't get stalked. I'm wondering what you do, that has elicited this repeatedly as a reaction.

WidowSpiders -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 5:02:47 PM)

Oh dear, well it seems the post should have been reworded to include a disclaimer that it was not intended to offend or insult those who already know how to use Collarme safely.

So here comes the disclaimer.

*Disclaimer!*
This advice is intended only for those who are currently dealing with an online stalker and people who are not interested in reading insulting emails. It is not intended to be directed at those who have the experience and toughened skin to deal with potential stalkers and morons. These tips are not meant to be blanket advice. To many users, following any of those tips would be too time consuming. Use at your discretion or ignore. Do not consume with alcohol. Do not operate heavy machinery while in use.

monywildcat -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 5:11:30 PM)

Oh dammit, I just popped open my beer, consumed it liberally, THEN saw the disclaimer.

I can only hope that this thread was helpful to someone that may be facing a potential or actual stalker issue, and that they may glean some good advice.  Yes, there are some of us out here that that it ain't our first rodeo, we can handle the stalkers and laugh our asses off at the wankers.  But there may be some noob out there that can't, yet.

WidowSpiders -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 5:14:32 PM)

Oh it's so much fun to see the inferences people make.

Actually, we've only been stalked once in the many years we have been on this site, thankfully. We used these tips to get rid of the person, and they worked quite effectively. Once he/she/it disappeared, we stopped using them, and instead rely upon the message filter and just block morons. We don't actually feel a need to use most of those safety checks, but of those, we still do use the email trick when we receive a second email. Admittedly we use that trick not so much to avoid stalkers, but to save the message until we have the time to answer. We like to appear somewhat prompt. lol

From the grape vine it seems that there is a mass stalker claiming to be in the Kentucky area. We have yet to receive solicitations from this person, but a few of the femsubs we know have been getting floods of harassing letters from him and his multiple profiles. Sadly, it has made many of them avoid or outright leave this site. Isn't it sad how a few jerks work so hard to ruin the fun for everyone else.

Have you ever been stalked through Collarme?

Uhhhhh....if he claims to have a bunch of mute subs, just ignore him.  He's been around awhile and is pretty harmless. [:D]

WidowSpiders -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 5:24:21 PM)

Oh yeah, most stalkers on here are pretty harmless. That's why they love this kind of site, it gives them anonymity. There are a few malignant ones, and some really persistent ones, though. Avoid and ignore, and if that doesn't work, stop, drop and roll.

LadyBanshee -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:30:27 PM)

What is with you people?! Is there a particular reason a few of you have gotten so defensive and adolescent? This post was a simple statement of advice made by a person who has obviously had to deal with stalking before. If it helps you out, then great! If it doesn't apply to you, then ignore it. Reading a post like this and assuming it was directed at insulting you personally is ridiculously vain and immature. Just remember that there are newbies to this site who haven't had the experiences to know how to handle stalkers. Everyone has to learn sometime, so why not let them learn from the mistakes of others? Get off your egos. It's not all about you. Though it does make me want to break into song...

"You're so vain. I bet you think this post is about you! Don't you? Don't you!"

To the OP: It sounds like you have been through something nasty. I suggest counseling and a little away time from this site. If that doesn't appeal, keep using those suggestions of yours until you feel comfortable enough to let them go. I've been stalked before, and I still use some of those precautions myself.

BKSir -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:35:23 PM)

Bleh...  Now I feel kinda inferior.  I've not been stalked yet.

Well, there was once, not here though, a long time ago.  Then I ended up showing that person the real me.  They ran off screaming and crying in a very short span of time.  *shrug*  Just goes to show, be careful what you wish for...

LadyBanshee.. welcome to the boards.  I'm guessing that you havent been around or lurking for long.  Yes, the advice is good for newbies.. but this is advice that has been covered ad nauseum on these boards..   which is why you will also frequently see people saying USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.

Just sayin'

You still have not responded to the question.  You have no watermark on your photograph, which you have now removed.  Why not?  How can you expect people to follow advice that you do not adhere to ?

BKSir -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:54:51 PM)

I concur, it really is very good advice.  A lot of people come to this site and these forums at young ages of 18 or so (god damn, when did that become a 'young age'?).  They come here looking for advice, for information on the lifestyle and kink, because they're curious.  Curiousity can sometimes lead into unwanted, disliked and dangerous situations if one isn't careful.

It's a big, strange, interesting, intriguing new world that some of these kids are peeking into, and can be a bit overwhelming and confusing to the point of good judgement being clouded.  As one of these 'jaded old' uh... 'not geezers', I can appreciate the sentiment of "if you can't swim, don't jump off the high board", but, I'm not SO old that I don't remember 'back when I was your age'. [;)]

PS:  Greedy... I'm not sure whether to laugh or be a bit creeped out now. [:D]
although, that did make me smile and brighten my evening.  Thank you.

Monkeyontuesday -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:56:46 PM)

Many stalkers actually get more aggressive and intense if they are ignored after a dialog has been established.

I'd still like to know how to open an e-mail and not have the other person see it...

BKSir -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:57:19 PM)

I'm curious about that one as well.

CalifChick -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/10/2008 11:57:27 PM)

I'll send you a cmail, Monkey.  Just give me a second.

Bobbob -> RE: Online Stalking and Harassment (11/11/2008 12:12:29 AM)

woohoo! this post wins the prize for most defensive and self absorbed responses yet this week!

for that matter, spiders, where are you pictures ? obviously yo started this post for the drama it would cause, so why aren't you defending yourslef? and why post it in the firts place if u didn't want to get torn down? that's what forums like this ar for!

the rest of us posting here want the drama

i, for one amd a smug b*st*rd

heh heh heh

ps. by the way peaple, why b*tch in this forum when i started a thread for all us drama queens!

Ummmm... learn to read "the.dark," I'm pretty sure she cleared that up in one of the previous posts.
