now now ... i told you no such thing ... i simply pointed out the believed reasoning behind the choice of that date ...

my reason for posting was simply to point out that ... though my wiccan friends are attacked and ridiculed for their actions around certain *christian * holidays  because they are suposedly * taking away from the spirit of the season * it is infact the other way around

personally, though i no longer believe in the central ideals of christianity even if they WERE being held to in this day and age ,i still like the presents bit ...

and yes the whole * why do you give / get presence at christmas when you dont believe in Christ * argument has been mentioned and my  response is this

I choose to show my love and appreciation for people in my life ... i choose to do so at a time that a large part of society does the same ... thus i avoid confusion and dont have to explain to everyone why im giving them free stuff . whether i believe in the reasons behind the gift giving or not doesnt make the gift giving any less important

Kmart had their christmas trees and decorations up before Halloween. I went to dinner at The Outback they had christmas carols playing, I thought can they shove this crap down our throats any harder? After Thanksgiving I can understand but before Halloween? No...

I love holiday decorations, especially the LIGHTS, but I despise the stress of putting them up and taking them down.  Personally, I would leave the lights up all year round, for the sake of Festivus and all. 

Ghod I hate the holidays.  With the passion of ten thousand blazing suns.   Is it January yet?

jlf - I offer the suggestion of the multiple-answer option on this one.  Pretty much all apply in one way or another.
 
My greatest stress comes from the relatives who complain loudly about lack of money and go deeper into debt year after year buying stuff they don't need.

People get exponentially more rude the closer to Christmas it becomes.  And, when I worked in my family's jewelry store, we had women running in on Christmas Eve to have us test diamonds in gifts that guys had given them to see if they were real; sometimes I found it darkly amusing, other times, the word tacky the shaking of my head is all I can muster.

My grandmother went into the hospital 4 days before Thanksgiving
She as moved to a nursing home just over a week before Christmas
She died on December 30th.

For me, privately, the holidays are exceptionally painful, since my grandmother used to love cooking both holiday meals for the family, despite being a cook for over 37 years for a college.

I've learned that if you are shopping on Black Friday and a woman grabs something out of your hand that you were going to buy, just snatch her purse...she'll quickly let go of the item she just jacked from you to retrieve her purse! [:D]

Ohhh...I gotta new one that burns my ass...

   I freaking hate those people in the mall that have those kiosks and want to show you this stupid toy, or that crappy new nail care system.  I even hate it more that those freaks try to corner you like youre a freaking bunny, and they are a hungry pissed of lion.  I swear, they got one more time to harass me about buying that over priced crap, and I will not be responsible for my actions.

ok so I work for Walmart and I have had to look at the decorations since Halloween (got to watch them put the things up)... and the music, I love Christmas music....
my big problem is family, I could and would understand if a member of my family needed dinner held till 2am... my problem is a sister that invites her family to dinner and makes all sorts of promises about helping cook and clean... then spending all night  the night before cooking  a turkey, a ham, both so tender they fell off the bone*good gods can ArmoredOne cook* not to mention all the extras he let me help with(the sister brought over canned corn and canned  green beans, for us to heat up) just to have them show up about 20 minutes before we ate, and leaving with nothing cleaned up not by them at least...staying up till 3 am cleaning up the mess just to get up at 4am to be at work for Blitz.. and getting to work a double shift till 9am then back at 2pm  till 11pm... thank gods for insomnia...

The one thing that really gets my goat is the fact that people in this 'season of goodwill' get nastier, ruder and more aggressive. Another thing that gets on my Nelly is how people behave in supermarkets. Whole aisles become impassable. Cellphones have made this worse. Before you'd have husband and wife each with a trolley arguing over how many crackers to buy or how big the turkey has got to be and trying to work out who's coming and not coming. Now you've got to wait longer as husband and wife now call other people on their cellphones to make sure they're coming, and then they ask them what food they want to eat, oh and before they forget, what would they like for Christmas, yadda yadda yadda..

We have tons of malls around here. Finding a parking space is easy. Picking where you want to shop is the hard part.
