i agree with that...and while i have severe grammatical issues, most of them are purposeful...a bit ee cummings of me but still mostly just lazy and im not into computers or typing for work and college was a loooong time ago (and others typed my shit up for me then too)
But if the spirit of the communication indicates that they are dull of mind...i wont be able to trust them enough to let go in a scene either...
Keep in mind that there is a difference between a dullard and someone who has like a legitimate learning disorder....

Cybering is certainly not for everyone, but I'd like to posit the idea that cyber-sex and real-sex are two related-yet-different things. I don't believe that anyone would ever argue that cyber-sex could replace real-sex for the purposes of gratification. There's just no way that it could even compare.

However, well written descriptions of erotic acts have a prurient value of their own. There's an intellectual stimulation inherent in good cyber-sex. Mind you, finding “good” cyber-sex is often the challenge. But if one can find an imaginative partner with some decent writing skills, cyber-sex can be fun for it's own purposes.

In my experience, though, it's never been enough to provide a physical stimulation; only intellectual. So I don't have that one-handed typing problem. ;)

enjoying the written word

This isn't about the written word. This is about having simulated physical human interactions, and simulated physical sexual intercourse, etc. I don't think anybody is putting down the written word here - you want to have nice email correspondence, enjoy.

But you know the syndrome of those who "like the written word", and are unable to respond to your presentation in that conference room verbally, and go back to their office, around the corner, to write you an email - those are people who have a communication problem, and they use the written word to get around it. And there are those online who cyber with you (which is, by the way, not the written word, but typewritten conversation) and pretend to be real, or pretend to want something real, when all they want is fantasy. That, too, is a communication problem.

There are many reasons why these people do what they do. Some are OK, others are not. Inasmuch as I am not aware that you can write your laundry, cyber is probably OK for kids living at home, and students in dorm rooms, not so OK for people who use it as an outlet without informing the people they speak to. I frequently have "potential subs" disappear on me when I say I will not chat. If I conform to what the sub wants, and she says she will relocate, and this, that and the other, and chatting is the deal breaker, that means that the sub is a cyberfreak. And I thought that was what we were (mostly) talking about.

For my part, I have a wife as well as a painslut-girlfriend ... but for logistical reasons (everpresent child in the first case, long distance in the second), I don't get laid as often as I'd like, so I resort to pornography. I happen to prefer interactive pornography to static.

In addition, there are kinks I have which are not shared with either partner (yes, it has been discussed with them), so cybering allows an outlet for that.

It's not all one-offs, either. Certainly I acknowledge that "real life always has priority" but one long-time cyber partner and I became very close, and she was invited to my wedding.

The closest I come to cyber is using Ventrilo when I play World of Warcraft. If I want to talk to someone, I call them on the phone.
