quote:
How much do you think is made on a pint of a beer ? Forgive me, but you did say earlier your brewery will not spend the money on your pub because the takings were not enough, that does indicate that if takings were better, they might spend the money on rennovation. The brewery's money comes from beer sales does it not ? MissT, I am not being facetious here, I genuinely read with interest your answers to my assumptions, you being on the other side of the bar than myself. I can only see what I see from my position, which might or might not be the truth as you know it, but it is what I hear from beer lovers like myself. Not only beer drinkers, but real ale fans who are very concerned about what we see as the dying throes of the tradition that is the British pub. Believe me, I do not like to be drinking the cheap continental mini bottles of beer, but they suffice as they are cheap, and I can enjoy an evening with friends all of whom smoke, without breaking the bank. To notice, those pubs that provide an area for smokers outside, now it is winter, it is cold and often wet, why endure that. My local has erected a tarpaulin for smokers, but has been told by whoever that he can no longer provide heating in the form of patio heaters for his clientele that are outside smoking and drinking. The heating gone, that is the last straw, it is far more comfortable to drink at home. I do genuinely feel for those involved at the sharp end of the beer trade.
