for some reason i've developed an aversion to watching movies (i have no idea why, cause i like movies)....

i've not had the bestest end of week, and the youngest um has been pestering me to watch mamma mia as she and her sister had watched it and loved it.

i'm not a huge fan of abba.

but she made me feel guilty about not having some bonding time with her.

so i watched it last night. was cute and all, but not something i would have gone out of my way to watch otherwise.

now put a young rutger hauer on the screen and i'm there!!

When I was first getting to know Master, He insisted I watch one of His favorite movies- "Bachelor Party." It had maybe one or two funny lines, the rest was pure 80's dreck.

(He's sitting beside me as I write this, saying, "Oh, NO, No No!! It's a classic!"

I worship and respect Him as my Master, but sometimes our cinematic tastes differ . Bring on the Gene Kelly musicals, let Him watch "Saw III")

Oooooo, boy, so glad to hear someone else in the exact same situation as me, hejira! I love and adore Lumus but our tastes in movies sometimes differ. (Radically.) I'm just thankful that I've learned to appreciate some of His favourite movies and occasionally He will sit through one of mine.

Rain

Yes, His taste can be very different, but He is very considerate in not making me watch anything too violent- I've never seen a 'Saw' movie, nor have I seen 'Silence of the Lambs'. Although he did have me watch "Pulp Fiction"...

However, we do have some comedies in common- we can both quote "Blazing Saddles" and "Airplane" all day long. But then He runs towards "Caddyshack" and I lean absurdist and English with any Monty Python.
------------------------------------------------------

Probably the worst movie I ever (almost) saw was "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". I walked out of the movie theater and waited in the lobby for my friend and then-husband. I couldn't take the stupidity of it.

hahaha, Lady T, I think that would be fair to say.  H.R. Giger, the head art designer of that film, is to grotesque what Shakespeare is to drama.

You were a sport, to be sure.

The Sound of Music - UGH!

Forrest Gump - double UGH! (Has Tom Hanks ever been in a good movie?)

No. I detest the man, and his presence has ruined otherwise enjoyable movies for me. His only saving grace is that he stars in a lot of Spielberg movies; since I even more detest Spielberg, it means I have fewer movies to be forced to avoid.

Yes. "Bachelor Party." Although my little girl would beg to differ with me on that one. LOL!

Dragged to see American Pie when it came out - couldn't even crack a smile i thought it was so stupid.  i dislike anything with kung fu in it - they bore me.  Hated that movie with Tom Hanks stranded on the island with that annoying ball he painted in blood - i was cheering when it went overboard, also couldn't sit through Monty Python and Godzilla.

On the flip side i made a few friends watch The Ref (with Denis Leary) which i thought was hilariously funny but they were bored stiff...... oh well.

Used to teach preschool, so I got stuck watching all the Disney's around the Beauty and the Beast era.   We had movie day so I had to play at least some of all the movies, it got to the point where I could recite it in my sleep, but I still liked them.

The movie I was always made to watch which I hated and still hate till this day....and I know I will sound un-American, is The Wizard of Oz.   It wasn't scary to me, or anything like that I just thought it was boring as shit.

Sorry for all of you fans out there...lol

P.S.
My receptionist made me watch Napolean Dynamite.  She let me borrow it and kept bugging the crap out of me until I watched it.  She wouldn't let me give it back until I did.  (she's one of those that keep reciting certain lines....and still does till this day)  I'm glad to see that others weren't amused as well.   She made it seem like it was an age thing, she's early twenties....but there were some older than me that liked it....I just thought it was stupid.

ooooh I forgot one....how could I forget....lol

My friend, who's a budding actor always wants me to watch his movies and when he had bit parts on shows, then wants me to write in as a fan and say how great "that" actor was.   Usually, it's pretty good whatever he's in, but....

He was in a movie, I think they only showed it on Sci-fi...it was called Haunted Prison....had Stacy Keach and Gary Busey and his son in it...so that right there should've told me...lol

OMG....that was the worse movie I've ever seen in my "entire" life...it was just awful.   I spent the majority of the movie trying to think of nice things to say about it when he contacted me to ask....ooooooh that was a tuffy...lol

When my son was young enough to live with my I went to a lot of movies I would not otherwise have seen.  Happily, I enjoyed most of them - 'Paint Wars' and 'Princess Mononoke' in particular.

I don't remember being dragged to many movies I didn't like - oh, Felix the Cat, which was awful, and Caligula, although I did kinda want to see the only movie Rex Reed gave a -1 star.  That was in my young and foolish days - movie choice is a hard limit for me now!

I'm a bit of a fillum buff and a friend had been bothering me to watch Asian horror. So she brought 'Odishon' (Audition) by Takashi Miike round for the evening. If you think you can watch anything, see this. It has a stunning climax that will have you wriggling about, especially if you have a phobia about needles. I now own all his movies.

My wife made me watch the entire Star Wars series in a two-day marathon.  It was okay, but I still don't know what all the fuss was about.
(Yeah, I was born in the 70s and didn't see the first three episodes until 2006 or so. I don't even fit in with geeks)
