The numbers show otherwise.

In states where concealed carry is permitted, crimes against persons and violent crimes decreased.  In states/cities where handgun ownership was restricted or removed, the opposite happened

This is the second time in this post someone has referred to these numbers and statistics.

This is also the second time in this post I'm asking to see the documentation that supports these claims.

Here is a review of a study done at the University of Chicago in the late 1990's by John R. Lott.  The review is conducted by two Professors of Law, William K. Townsend at Yale Law School, and John J. Donohue III at Stanford Law School.

Thank you.

This is the first thing I've seen so far to offer any credible support to these arguments.

There's a lot of material and I haven't read it all the way through.  At first glance though, it appears the data is somewhat inconclusive.  I'm trying to keep an open mind though and I will read it all.

With personal responsibility, the right to keep and bear arms is not an issue.

Bingo!
It's a heavy responsibility to carry a firearm. One that these two morons in the Toys-R-Us took a little too lightly.
Look where it got them.

And if guns were eliminated.

This wouldnt've happened.

And if you put guns in the hands of everyone.

Incidents like this would happen practically everyday.

And the fact that people still argue against gun control and such

Just proves my point about this having all to do with personal ideology and not about the greater good.

out of curiosity, lets say we do ban guns.  and all law obiding citizens turn theirs in.  can you guess what will happen?

now, lets look at this from the standpoint of a criminal mind.  everyone is giving up their guns.  hey!! its party time!! all i have to do is wait them out, then, its ripe for the picking time!

as far as i am concerned, at this point, people are safer because they may have a gun... the criminals just dont know who does or who doesnt.  once they can figure out who dont, its already too late.

it must be nice to live in a country where guns are banned.. even from criminals... how did you guys manage to make criminals suddenly abide by the law?

Enforcing a law, who's job is that again?

lets try to get this through your head.  suddenly, all law abiding citizens have given up all their guns.  just what do you think the criminals will be doing?  do you honestly believe there are enough cops to go around dealing with every crisis that will arise?  does canada take away your rose colored glasses at the borders?

give me a break.  take away the guns, and the only ones to have them will be law enforcement and criminals.  i got it!  how about se ship them all to canada and you show us how its done!  YOU live with the anarchy that will ensue... you tell your kids they cant go out to play because the cops and robbers are playing shoot-em-up reality style in the park.

i dont like guns.  im terrified of them.  but they do have a place, if for nothing else than keeping the criminal element in partial check.  just like you never know who has a gun or who doesnt outside of your door, they dont know who has one behind the door they may be kicking in.
