I'm starting to get curious about how long people 'session' with their partners. I'm not talking about those who live together, unless you want to discuss what you did before you moved in together. That's sort of different. My husband and I can find a 15 minute "Slam! Bam! Thank you, Ma'am!" to be quite enjoyable from time to time and I'm sure we are not the only ones. But when you make arrangements to see someone who might be coming in from out of town or whatever, how much time do you actually spend with them? I've found that I am just not happy with less than three or four hours. Even then, I never seem to get around to doing everything I had in mind. Maybe I just 'waste' to much time cuddling and cooing with my boys.

How much time playing? HOURS. Even then, I generally would have to stop because of him being ready (physically) to stop. One of the reasons public play was less and less fun to me was that it was too brief!

The local playspace here is tiny, and on certain advertised nights can get quite packed. As a result...the playrooms have a 30 minute rule. I don't know about everyone else here, but I've found that 30 minutes is about the length of a good warmup. I'm not sure how anyone really gets a satisfying scene out of that. Outside of that space though, with both play partners I've had over the last year we'd spend many hours on a "session". That would include a lot of cuddling and talking though (and there's nothing wasteful about that! [:D]). I'm not including aftercare either, as that often involved laying in bed talking until shortly before sunrise. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say at minimum 4 or 5 hours...but often up to 12 hours.

Daddy and I'd play for 3 or 4 hours, if we went to The Citadel in Sf. He came down once a week every week on Sunday, and we'd spend monday and tuesday together, However going out to clubs was very rare since I felt it was a waste of time to spend 4 hours all told driving. When I started going to play parties here locally again, since he could drive me, we'd spend all night at the play parties from the time they opend untill like midnight or so sometimes even later than midnight. Now that we live together bdsm play is just about nill, since day to day life has taken over and finaces keep us from affording to go pay 40 bucks every few weeks to go to clubs. Hours and hours and there just aren't enough of them in the day! I just had a man come from another state for a few days. There were times when we walked out of the bedroom and saw the clock and went "were we really in there THAT long?" But I also like to play in ways that are very covert, and play continues in public with no one being any the wiser. So, my answer is hours, as many as I can get. [;)]

I'm going to say that it depends on the situation. Like was already mentioned, at a club, you may only get a specified amount of time. If the place is busy, and all you're going to get is 30 minutes, it tends to feel like the scene is rushed. With an hour, I can make do, but I usually have to have some kind of 15 minute warning that My time is coming to a close. My husband having to get into My range of vision, tapping his watch, isn't uncommon at all if it's a public club. If it's private, and a longer amount of time is an option, I would say probably the three hour range if we're talking pain. Wax, of course, is always a longer endeavor. It tends to be shorter if it's electical play or fire.

Hrm.. it all really depends. My Mistress likes to point out that I lose track of all time when I get into my head space. We've scened for up to 3 hours once, but what to me seemed like a mere 15 minutes. I think a good length scene is the amount of time it takes for both people to be satisfied and happy :)

It does depend a lot on the mood and the natural flow of a "scene", it can be anything from minutes to hours.

From my limited experience, I found that it usually takes about half an hour for me to start really enjoying it; to stop it then it's simply unbearable. However, I believe it's a matter of mutual respect and consideration, therefore the length of time should be felt between partners.

For a session at My place, absolute minimum of 2 hours, based on about 15 mins icebreaking, 1 hour play, 45 mins aftercare and grounding. However, I much prefer to have 3-4 hours and throw in some general household service and a meal together too! Maam Jay aka violet[A]

The boy likes to tease that I am too ambitious and/or want to do everything at once because as I'm packing up the toys I'm always saying "but I wanted to...". We tend to do at least one overnight a week...that way we can both get our fix, with intermittent cuddle time (which is never a waste of time in my rarely humble opinion). Shortest we have done (at home) is about 4 hours and that felt rushed. For public play, I think it helps to be do some warm-up while walking around/taking in the sights so that the limited time on the equipment is not an issue.

See? I've never been to a public dungeon... except at Frolicon and I didn't have a boy so I didn't get to play... I could just watch the others. I enjoy the cuddling. That's part of it. Pain and pleasure in cycles. That's the best part to be all sweet and lovey-dovey for my boy to 'rest up' a moment before starting again. I just don't understand the public setting with one hour sessions. I hear the Ladies talking about one hour pubilc play or Pro sessions, and I just don't 'get it'. Just curiosity about what I have not experianced.
