Would you really want to live forever or only if you still had your health and mental faculties. What about one by one watching all your loved ones die. Also if you knew you were immortal what would motivate you to accomplish things?

I think the Tim McGraw song sums it up best for me "Live like you were dying."

I plan on sticking around until what I came here to do is completed.

What a morbid thread...

I have no plans for my death. Then again, I don't have plans for more than a week out, either...

All I'm saying is death is inevitable.

I'd like to be the teacher that has been in the school for 30 years that everybody loves because they all learn from, so I guess I want to live at least another 30. Probably 40, since I don't have my teaching license yet and I need to find the community I am willing to spend 30 years in...

On the other hand, I believe I have lived a good life and done my best, so if I "checked out" today, I wouldn't be bothered... I'd be dead...

unfortunately, death never happens when you want it to, only when you least expect it.

Exactly... no short cuts, no job incomplete...all lessons learned.

but that might encompass far more than one lifetime to accomplish in full

I probably need to stick around for at least another 16 years so I can continue to provide a secure, loving home for my little Daisy cat. Now, if I could live forever, I could rescue untold millions of stray kitties and that would surely be worthwhile. Plus, I could have 50 zillion paddles under my name when I post here.

Well, maybe not 50 zillion paddles. Maybe some other kind of implement.

Yeah... that was the caveat! I think we come to place in our lives where we are content and satisfied with our goals we set forth.... after that it's time for just pure fun.

There are mighty rivers out there, where if you swim or you are separated from your boat, you perish.... If I could run them, just for exhilaration and pure power of Mother Nature, without out fear of ''cashing in'' early, I can't think of anything more fun.
