because of lack of experience i don't post very often on the top section, but i still read it quite a bit. i find too, the day to day relationship issues always seem to get touched on down here and that's a large part of my interest in the lifestyle, so without it turning into "twueness", etc, its as informative down here. and the sense of humour is much more evident down here!

I enjoy reading all the sections, I dont think I have ever posted in poly or switch sections tho even tho I have both components in my life, its just complicated and I tend to keep  away from the relationship dynamics topics.  I have much more interest in the S&M or B&D side, I love the bondage gear section, such a lovely lot of ideas and links.
I really enjoy the sharing of ideas, from the innocent to the more perverse...different elements for scenarios that I would never have thought about. I like the bottom end tooo, its more than interesting, a variety of subjects, ideas and humour. Plus most of the people here kick ass, even when I disagree with them. I know Ive done more research because of topics here than ever had before.
I had my own forum for 3 years before bravenet shut down adult orientated boards, but CM is the best one out there. I give it much  more time than I should... it is my start page.

When we had our individual profiles, we posted in the top sections. For myself, I got tired of what I'll call drama where someone would post a question or issue asking for advice, people would take the time to answer, including myself only to be ignored or told we don't know what we're talking about, either by the OP or other posters. There's a lot of good threads and I still read occasionally with the rare posting but I've found myself down below here mostly and enjoy it.

I've met some wonderful people, made great friends and it was in P&RS that I met Lumus. So yes, I'll admit to a partiality for it.

The bottom part of the boards, here, off topic, I consider this my haunt. Why, because I enjoy the variety of topics that come up,  also take interest in how others, normal people view world events, the things that affect them in their daily lives. I am not a news watcher, or reader, I pick up world events, but as to the doom and gloom created by media, I have no time for,  that stuff, I pick up here and other forums, how it affects the normal person, further interest, I search from many different sources. People interest me, not controlling organisations.

As to up the board, though I identify as switch,(though others might disagree), I long ago tired of the switch section due to the same threads coming up all the time with the same answers, a veritable bank of switches, a logic circuit even, on-off, yes-no, sub-dom etc and that bit in between, the time of change, the switch.

Ask a whatever, well I have done this and annoyed some of them, so I keep out of there.

Bondage gear and apparel annoys me, because it starts my mind churning at the possibilities that exist for making things, not good when I come here to relax, here is a break from that mind. It also serves to niggle at me that I should be doing something more constructive than perusing forums.

General Bdsm, well, really I know nothing about bdsm, so feel best to stay out, besides when I do post in there, the post often ends up in off topic section, so in off topic I tend to stay, my home

I find less pretension ( and pretend shit ) in P&RS.

Intelligent folks with a sharp sense of humor who don't take themselves too seriously are more fun for me to "hang out with" and, like Lushy, some of the folks who tend to hang here have become real friends.

Having said that, I do still regularly read the BDSM threads. Sometimes, I learn something or run across a thought provoking post.

Besides, I find spewing beverages through my nose quite stimulating.

Yep, I'm with the bunch who live on the PR&S board.......for pretty much the same reasons listed here already.  The rare time that I have ventured into the top boards, the level of snark is outrageous, and quite often, uncalled for.  Rather than let loose, I just don't bother to respond.....drama and I have never been good friends!

I have had the opportunity to meet some of my fellow PR&S'ers, have spoken to others via the phone and e-mail, and they are great people!  No one makes judgements (as a rule), and the laughs are usually hard and fast.......NEVER drink while on the boards!  Unless, like one mentioned, you really enjoy having the inside of your nose cleaned out with soda!  Not too good for keyboards, either!  We all hang out, everything is done with great fun, and occasionally, we actually DO learn something!

Because there are very few questions asked upstairs which have a categorically right or wrong answer, I read that part but can seldom add much to the debate.  There are those who will say I don't add much down here either but pffft .

I think I return here because it is an add-on to a special interest board.  Standalone political/social issue boards are quite different in character; they lack the dimension of having that commonality, or at least familiarity with, certain ideas.

i tend to "post all over the place"
but i like the bottom half of the board because i don't really know a whole lot in terms of BDSM and can't contribute to alot of discussions besides reading them =p
i'm here for info and learning, so reading threads is really all i should be doing anyway, probably =p
in person i'm a horribly quiet person, but i like to run my mouth (fingers?) online =p (hence the ridiculous post count in a short period of time) =p
of course one thing that's different "down here" is that there seem to be some established "communities" of posters and a new person attempting to join in the fun isn't always welcomed i.e becomes a post-killer =p atleast until one of the "regulars" shows up and sends things back "on topic" or whatever
cliquishness knows no bounds =p not even online
the top half of the board seems to lack that, so that's nice =p

You must be talking about off topic discussions. Threads in random stupidity....well we welcome everyone with open arms. So come on over to an "I love it when" or "I hate it when" and get to know us. You will become one of the gang rather quickly.

Mistoferin..I post from time to time in the BDSM threads, but more often here or  in polls, I suspect. Primarily because I am more than my sexual orientation. While it permeates my life it is still only one small part of who I am and what I am interested in. I enjoy the banter, the discussions and the caring that goes on, on this site as well as the things I learn about others and their psychological and sexual kinks. Made some good freinds as well.

Like Life, there is a constant change, flow and eddy that goes on here..and that..is more enjoyable than a board focused on only one topic.

Were I to guess, I would say it is that many people can deal with a wide array of BDSM play, but find it more difficult to connect on a friendship/philosophical outlook.    The bottom part of the boards is a good place to get a feel for how one thinks and lives, aside from tacking on labels.    M

But there is a large group of posters who only post to these lower sections and never venture into the upper half of the boards which is the "meat" of the site.

I just like the crowd down here, in the swamp :-) .

There are plenty of other threads on these boards JUST FOR BDSM conversations but just because this is a BDSM site doesn't mean it's ALL ABOUT BDSM. We do have other interests & it's good to see what this diverse group of maniacs can post to spark a debate.

I do love the PR&S threads & practically live there but when I'm feeling "serious" I'll head to the other threads but quickly find my way back to PR&S threads because of the comraderie (sp).  I too have met & chatted w/folks on the phone & in real life and value those relationships much more than the more "serious" threads where it's online chat only. I actually ENJOY meeting folks from all over the world even if it is only via phone but by all means, do carry on with the "serious" topics. They're pretty good at times too.

And yet again Stella gives a stellar example of why I hang in the bottom section. Talent, wit and class rolled into one post!

(Can I be like you, Stella, when I grow up?) *winks*
