I don't get the problem with the extra RAM either.  They're quite pretty in a way. Huh!

What really gets me, though, is that if it's the other way around - a rubbish present from her to you, the man - it's still you, the man, who ends up in the doghouse.  You have to put every ounce of your being into showing how much you love this packet of fifty pairs of nasty nylon socks that look like vomit and will make your feet stink within an hour of putting them on.  You let the delighted expression slip for a nanosecond and she sees it, you're instantly an ungrateful, insensitive clod with no chance of remission till the following Christmas.

I feel for every woman who would throw a shit-fit if their husband or boyfriend bought them a vacuum cleaner for Christmas or whatever. I would not be a happy subby if that was under our Christmas tree. Likewise, if I bought Mistress a thigh-blaster...I'd probably have to sleep in the auditorium at work for a couple of weeks. :-p

I'm always touched by your faith in me.  For example, the notion that you could get me either one of these things for Christmas and continue to live.

So if I don't post for awhile, you all know what happened. >_>

<_<

The RAM is okay though, right? (Frantically checks for receipts, oh gods where's the receipt?)

I would never give a vac either.  Although a nice cooking pot went over very well last year as I knew it would.  This year the big gift will be Planet Earth - The Complete BBC Series.

Seriously??

I got a fantastic one 2 years ago, was very happy when I unwrapped my spiffy new vacuum (one specifically for pet hair removal, oh that baby rocked heh). It was also pretty darn pricey.

Personally I'm always happy to get a gift, even a practical one.. sometimes especially a practical one because I couldn't spend that sort of money on a vacuum myself.

I agree.  I love getting gifts and am equally as happy with a practical gift that I can use as something more personal.  I've been hoping for the big 14 cup professional Cuisinart lately, but so far, nothing.

I just bought myself a new vacuum tonight.  I guess I should be angry at me.

*you bitch!*

If it reflects my personality, does this mean that I "suck" really well?

*giggles*

It would me as well, but I probably would buy it for one who cleaned for me in addition to something personal of course.   M

a few years ago, I asked for a vacuam for the holidays.... got it too... was way happy.... the dyson works awsome on pet hair.

This year I am asking  for....... a new calender (works of monet), a new crock pot (my old one died), a copper bottom stock pot, 7 pairs of cashmere socks (gawd I love those things), a gift card to the book store, and some new slippers ( the new early Christmas puppy we got, ate my other ones).
I think at some point in your life you tend to have everything you want or need already and gift giving starts to be hard, so it is better to ask for what you really want rather then yet another pair of diamond earrings.
I have more clothes then I can ever wear, more shoes then my closet can ever hold, more S&M gear then my dungeon space can fit, I have two jewlery boxes full of stuff I mainly don't wear, 10 book cases of books, a well furnished home, and a new puppy..... damn I just want a new crockpot and some chew resistant slippers.......lol

Girl, why are you asking a rhetorical question?     (just thinking that smile means you're happy, and I would imagine you wouldn't be if he weren't).
Hope the vacum cleaner works as well.<M

Lol, thanks for the giggles.

Seriously though, I am one of those practical types, and my vacuum is broken right now, I wouldn't mind it all actually. It's really no fun sweeping a whole house with a broom. I do like practical gifts, not a big fan of jewellery. I keep getting bought jewellery by well meaning relatives as a kind of not-sure-what-she's-into default Christmas present, but I never wear them, they just sit in my dresser, or they disappear.

I actually would love a RAM upgrade, though I just treated myself to 2GB RAM which cam through this morning, to sit along side my existing 2GB RAM – 4GB here I come!

I hope it works.  I had weeks of fun sending chips backwards and forwards to the company before I finally got the right RAM.

That's too funny.  But you know where the guy with the vacuum went wrong?  That's no anniversary gift, come on!  We all know that's more of a mother's day gift!!  Sheesh, what a boob.

Is it personalized if the tag says, "Because nothing sucks like you but this comes close"...?

Thanks PeonForHer.

Seems to be going pretty good actually. Had a few little probs booting up after fitting, but I got my very clever techie sub on the phone to come to my rescue. One particular problem I had - I'm continually pressing the delete button immediately after booting up, to get the CMOS menu up – CMOS won't come up. Absolutely nothing's happening. Five attempts later, still nothing happening, until my sub asks in a very meek and mild voice, “uhh, princess, I don't mean to sounds patronising, but you have got your keyboard plugged in, haven't you?”. *Loud voice* “Of course I've got my keyb........ oh”. DOH! Lol.

But yeah, it's going pretty fast right now, Vista is running sweetly.

Hey, I'd actually *want* a fire extinguisher.  You never know when you want to take the fire play kit a travelin'.

After reading this thread, does anybody want to go in on either a vacuum cleaner or some other silly thing to hide under Shatki's tree, just to see what she'd really do to aidan?  I'll bet there'd be great new pics involved, after the carnage.

From the desk of the imperfect, but ever so helpful Lady Pact.

*Chortle*.  Mind you, you should have thrashed him soundly for not installing it himself.  If you haven't done it already, I'd make sure your computer's got lots of air space around it.  The processor may run hotter with the RAM upgrade.
