Likewise, I’m a very modest person and therefore tend to go unnoticed quite often.

Hmmmm, only if he wants to test my skills to that of a hoover . I'm not sure how I'd feel about a vaccum cleaner, pet says he's getting me a chainsaw for Christmas....I can't wait to see what I can do with it!

As my vacuum is on its last 'leg', one would bea welcome gift but I'd think it a super-strange 'romantic' gift.
My ex- and I never did Christmas presents for each other; we got married when he was 18 and I was 19 so we were too poor to buy gifts for everyone else and each other, so we bought gifts for everyone else (And went shopping after Christmas with the money we got as gifts) and the no-Christmas gifts to each other thing became a tradition.  :>

Second, a few years back I knew a wonderful guy from Okinawa.  He was completely thrilled with the American version of Christmas.  The lights and the trees and the gift giving.  One year, he gave his wife a vacuum cleaner for a Christmas present.  He slept on the couch for a month.  It took Me a long time to explain to him just exactly what the problem was.

That's HORRIBLE! Was His wife NOT aware that He didn't know what the problem was? Why have a month long 'stay out of my bed' fight over someone doing their best? I will never understand vanillas - honest to G-d.

It has been suggested to me, by family that lives still in my hometown, that I give my sons a vacuum for Christmas. (My adult sons share an apartment.) I think these are family members who heard sons mention that they had to throw out the vacuum because it was painful to people with aspburgers. (I met their former vacuum before they took it out. It was painful to ME, it had to be torture for my boys) However, I can't help but wonder if these family members have been IN my sons' apartment. I don't know what they would use a vacuum for, I really don't. Don't you have to be able to see the floor in order to use a vacuum?

Not to hijack such a serious thread about vacuum cleaners, but I couldn't help it.  This was a few years back, before My friend was "Americanized."  It kind of became a running gag there for a while, being compared to what any of the other males could do to get them in the doghouse with their wives.  "Was it vacuum cleaner bad?"

The wife did over react, but it really was taken as a funny story and even My friend would laugh at the whole thing.  He really was the sweetest guy, even if I had trouble understanding half of the things he said due to his accent.

I hope the readers will forgive Me for digressing from such a serious topic.  Back to the regularly scheduled thread.

I see nothing wrong with getting a vacuum cleaner as a gift. Especially if you give it conjunction with a Vac Bed

Mummyman, I like the way you think, I would love a vac if it came with a vacbed...latex of course, the one I have is a waterbed matress which works, but not the same as latex, (drool)
RAM or more hard drive space is always welcome, actually anything to do with the computer is liable to get many smooches.
This year tho, Im looking for beading supplies and a new desk.
Im not a fan of housewares.... unless they are going to be used by someone else:)
