The problem with that is we live in the garage and we leave the garage door open 24/7 so the dog may come and go as she likes. So to them it's probably like a huge welcome home come right in sign. I do want to get a screen door for the garage, with a doggie door, and untill then, well we probably should start shutting the door. Will probably keep it a lot warmer in here also. The craft little buggers are avoiding our mouse traps, the mouse trap can go weeks with out being touched. they're probably to full from eating all my stuff to care about the traps :( Ginger helped Daddy corner a mouse once, and after that when I praised her and told her good girl get the mouse, she will do anything she can to get the mouse. IT's gotten to the point now, if I go to the cabnit where they are, and she see's me she barks and cries at me for not letting her into the cabnit to check for mice. quote: ORIGINAL: ThatDaveGuy69 You need to find all the places those meeses are getting into your house and plug them! There is food in here, since it being a gargae it's also a pantry. But the foods all in cans and boxes and packages, and the mice don't bother it. However they do positivly LOVE LOVE LOVE, my clothing my stuffed toys and my craft supplies in the tiny storage cabnit, and as I posted are eating the shit out of that stuff. quote: ORIGINAL: Lynnxz Haha, we have a huge problem with large rats at the haunted house, I blame the antique store. Sticky traps with a dab of peanut butter in the center will catch them. Also, if you can locate the point of entry, try filling it with steel wool (not Brillo pads though)

well honestly before the probably 200 dollars of damage all told they did to my stuff, plus stinking it up, I wouldn't of minded someone letting it go outside. They're ignoreing those too [:-] I have some out, and they're prebaited, and in september we had wonderful luck catching a mouse that had evaded my dad for months with in one week, but now? Nice thing about snakes..they follow the food. No mice..time to move on and find more mice. One thing I found living in NY...if there is the SCENT of a ferret around vermin tend to find safer places. They don't know it is a predator that likes them..can't read a book...but for some reason, leaving seems to be their best option. Friend of mine has an escaped ferret living under her mobile home...so far, even though the place was abandoned for a long period there are no vermin of the rodent variety. If you want to try another route..Naphthalene MOTHBALLS..No you don't have to grab the magnifying glass and tweezers..you can pick them up at your local hardware store or grocery. Scatter them ALL over the floor of the storage unit, in boxes and wherever you can. Be careful though, the fumes can build up and you will need to air out the storage before doing in prolonged work in there. Oh...nearly forgot..mice are not dumb. They learn and rather quickly to avoid traps and to recognize them and they do teach their young just like rats do. poenkitten

I had a rat terrier as a kid in Detroit. Pay attention people. If you own a rat terrier in a large city do not let it out at night to roam. Every morning we would get up to big piles of rats on the back steps. Had a neighbor who had cats. We were sitting on her front pourch talking one night when one of her cats jumped on her lap . She put it to her mouth and kissed it and then screamed and threw it off the pourch. It had a big rat in its mouth that it had not killed yet.

Are you keeping dog food in bags? Put that into a metal garbage can. Put all bagged food into sealed containers, metal or plastic or move spaghetti into empty mayo jars and such. Then pour ammonia over the floor to eliminate the scent of food. If it doesn't smell like food, they shouldn't come by. They weren't eating your clothes, they shredded them to make nests.

ok a story about dog food in garbage cans. I kept a closed garbage can of dog food in the basement. Once one of the kids left off the lid. I went down to get some dog food and the food was moving. I noticed a movement above my head. Hre was a mouse walking along the close line. When it got over the can it dropped in. I took about 20 mice out of that can.

When I was over seas in a few countries I never noticed much of a mouse problem. I did see people roasting cats and dogs over fire pits.

And grounded the kid who left the thing open.

I got rid of a mouse problem. I used D-Con and put moth balls in closets, under cabinets and in any crawl spaces. I heard mice dont like the smell of moth balls. I store my dog and cat food in sealed 5 gallon buckets to eliminate a mouse feeding source. I stored cabinet food like crackers or any thing sold in cheap packaging in metal canisters. I use to work on cars, we had a few cars come in the garage that had mice nest built in the engine compartment under the hood, and yes they did chew on wires and hoses.

My late father in law's pride and joy was a Ferrari that he took out once or twice a year if the weather was perfect. The rest of the time it lived in the garage where he would spend time with it; recliner, tv etc. Until the fatal day he turned it on to keep it working and discovered if you hit the horn the lights flashed on. Hit the lights and the radio turned on, etc. Six months in the shop before they finished rewiring the damned thing! Mice. And they had cats.

Where I live there area few open fields nearby. Every fall my neighbors and I have "visitors" from said fields. The last fews years we had mice in the house until my neighbor told me about the d-con last year. In early September I put 4 traps down and 4 bait boxes. I also went to home depot and got stuff that supposed to smell like fox urine, and used a spray bottle to apply it to the outside foundation of my house. I have not seen a sign of a mouse yet this year. knocking on wood and keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps working
