CalifChick -> RE: February 6th, 2009 (1/23/2009 9:13:45 PM)

I am here to clear up any misconceptions about the color of a bride's attire.  The color white signifies JOY, not purity.  The veil pulled over the face signifies PURITY.

When the local stock of veils heard thru the grapevine that Miss Greedy was getting married, they all rolled up and bolted for parts elsewhere.

So what does a kinky, slutty girl wear for that "air of mystery?"   Gas mask?  Leather hood?  [:D]

Originally in some cultures, brides wore a veil not as a symbol of purity - but to confuse evil spirits and hide from bad luck.

It was thought that evil spirits who fed off the joy of young girls as they became wives and headed (hopefully) towards motherhood could be fooled if they could not recognize the bride.  Since these evil spirits were thought to bring a trail of bad luck behind them - usually in the form of inability to give birth to healthy children - the bride was placed behind a veil to confuse the spirits.  Since the veil wasn't lifted until near the very end of the cerimony, and then by her husband, the spirits had no opportunity to "infect" the new bride with bad luck.

Oh! That is so exciting! More good news and good luck! (veil or no veil, there will be NO bad luck/spirits -only good karma- anywhere near these procedings!)
