In this lifestyle we often hear people speak of integrity, honesty. Everyone claims to value them. Life teaches me more each day though that very few people actually apply very little of them to their lives…or only if it’s convenient at the time or doesn’t upset the overall apple cart. When it comes to actually putting your money where your mouth is I find that most people will take the easy route…or the route that makes them “look” the best. That or they just won’t commit to any position at all…sitting on the fence watching it all play out…a safe distance from possibly being soiled by any of the flying shit. God forbid they actually make a stand…especially when it’s an unpopular one…even when it is the right thing to do. It’s so much easier to turn a blind eye or pretend you just never saw.

I’m sick to death of fake people…people who talk a good line but fall far short of the mark when confronted with the tough decisions. People who can look at a situation and see the unbelievable wrongness of it…yet refuse to take a stand against it. Sometimes doing the right thing is the hardest thing to do.  And I’m especially sickened by people who present themselves as having and valuing integrity and honesty…but upon closer look you find out that it’s all just talk.

I’m finding that the type of people that I want anywhere near my life are few. The world really is going to hell in a hand basket and most people are along for the ride because they can’t find enough courage within themselves to get off the train. I don’t know why I can’t seem to let go of my expectation that most people are basically good, decent human beings who will do what’s right. It causes me to be continually disappointed in the human race.

Sorry…just a rant. Particularly disappointed in people lately. Me, Sir and a remote cabin on a mountain top somewhere is sounding pretty appealing.

Unpopular stands can have long lasting bad results. Thinking about whistle blowers here. You do the right thing, you lose your job, get sued, can't get hired by anyone. Is it fair to expect people to be okay with that? Most of us aren't fine with the possibility of living on the street.

You just think that cabin on the mountain top sounds good. It wouldn't be in the middle of winter, wood to carry, ice to chip. Long drive to the grocery store.

Living on the street or carrying wood is far preferable to me than having to walk through life turning a blind eye. Swallowing the bile is getting old.

Lol, having spent over twenty years on a farm isolated from about everywhere, especially in the winter, i'd have to say you don't know til you've tried it.

Personally i loved it! Careful planning made it easy.

Then you know the absolute horror of it all. This wasn't some little thing...this was something major. I can't imagine much worse to be really honest and I'm sure that I will have nightmares for a long time to come thinking of those images. I just don't understand how anyone that has a heart beating in their chest could look the other way. People like that should be outcast from society but just because they belong to this "lifestyle" they somehow deserve a free pass???? Oh fuck that!!!

Well when you condition people to live in a society which prizes and rewards personal profit and gain at the expense of others at all costs, what do you expect?

Most people I find are unable to nowadays comprehend anything which doesn't directly affect them, cost them money, or involve sex.

Community and solidarity would appear to be history.

However not everybody is like that. Some people are more intelligent and creative.

All it takes is one idea, just one idea. Knowing that gives you hope.

I have visions of said unnamed perpetrator with an ankle in a welded on cuff chained in a empty shed. Perhaps first having been infected with fleas and a tapeworm. Then left there, no food, a bit of dirty water, until forced to consume his own body parts for food.

You know, something a la Saw type, only no way out.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that no two people are the same, and that no two people will take the same stand. What I perceive to be right and wrong means very little to the person who stands next me.  Our values are different, our morals are different, what defines our lives are different, and our loyalties are different.

I can not condemn a person simply because they do not have the same lines drawn that I do; what's  more, I absolutly refuse to condemn them simply because they do not conform to what I see as honorable.

Just me, but there it is.

I have no idea what "it" is either, as LadyPact stated.
But it's not hard for me to guess.
If someone in this or any other "lifestyle" has abused or seriously hurt someone intentionally
than maybe "someone" needs to go to the authorities.
I can't imagine knowingly being around or associating with this type of person.

Erin, come join me in the cabin on the road less traveled.

Paying lip service to what is correct and right (in the opinion of the public and peers) minded folk can be observed every sunday as a group of pretend good folk with high morals and caring about the community visit their churches, are seen at church or school fetes (wnen the press is about) and try to appear to everybodies friend.. Aye we see them here all too bloody often along with those brown noses who seek favourable treatment from the aforementined correct and right (in the opinion of the public and peers) minded folk. here in Aussie, we call them politicians! However more to the point I know many more people of all shapes and sized, colours, religious beliefs and races who pay more than lip service to what they both believe and openly stand for. many times they are out cast and are made redundant because they will not be a "Yes Man". They are infact more often than not discriminated against. Socially many people find these good folk uncomfortable to be with and shun them. Why? because threse folk are showing up thos posers for what we all know they are.. As one Prime Minister of ours (Mr Malcolm Frazer) stated "Life isn't meant to be easy!" A very true and honest comment. Nothing on this earth has value unless you have to earn it and work hard in the process. (Something our youth seems to have missed with their "I want it and I want it now" cry and seek instant everything from instant sexual gratification, knowledge, large incomes etc). It is bloody harrd to reconcile the desire and even need to do the right thing and yet remain in a reasonable form of employment and support a family. There, my children is NO ANSWER. Each must make their own decisions as to what and when to do a nelson and turn the blind eye. May you God/s help you if you take a stand and may your God/s bless you too..

I don't really follow you here, so this is going to be kind of general....I think most people are good and decent.  But we kind of expect that and see that, at least on the surface, in most walks of life.  But when someone we are involved with on a personal level turns out to be dishonorable, we tend to feel that more deeply because we held them to a higher standard than they turned out to be worthy of. And we ended up being affected personally by that dishonor, therefore it's like "oh what the fuck, has the whole world turned upside down. what ever happened to good and decent people, have they gone extinct etc etc" .  It's not the whole world.  It's just one person who didn't live up to your expectations.

With regards to your thread title----"Lip Service"....A good rule of thumb that I live by....When someone talks a line about how ethical they are, how honest they are, how real they are etc etc, they are usually anything but.  I always take big talkers as a red flag.  If you are honest, and ethical and genuine etc, you just are, you don't need to be pointing it out continually.  I always think of lip service as classic over-compensation.  Big talkers know that they actually lack what they claim to have in spades.

This thread remind me of something Master told me a couple of days ago... It was in the local paper.  If you will bear with me i would like to tell you...

An old person was going to the shops in their motorized wheelchair/car thingy (i can't remember the proper term for them sorry) when it broke down in an alleyway.  Coming the other way was a bunch of hoodies, not people an older person in this situation wants to see as i am sure you can imagine.  They took one look at the stranded pensioner and made sure they got to the shops, helped with everything that person needed and helped them home again.

To say i was shocked when i heard this was an understatement.  This was not the outcome i had expected and it restored some of my faith in human nature.  i do not know what has happened mistoferin, but i can imagine that it is something truly awful and my heart goes out to you and all concerned.  i just hope that in some small way, these hoodies, went someway to put some goodness back into this less than perfect world.

hugs

gabrielle x

Erin,
i just want to apologize, on behalf of the human race that You've been disappointed.......again.  i understand where You are coming from.  Recently a 'friend' who claims to be a 'dom' made some kind on insinuation about why couldn't i just recognize that what i needed was right in front of me.  Apparently, he was talking about himself and not the man i love, value, cherish, respect, or honor.  i didn't respond for a little while because i needed to think about my place in this situation...... Because at the end of the day, that's what i am left with....... my part.  i did respond though, and this person most likely will not be okay calling themself my friend afterward. i will admit to You though, that i did weigh out my various options..... Did i entertain the thoughts of blowing it off and minimizing it? Damn straight!! However, when i look at Him i could not imagine the way that would make Him feel if He found out.
The reason i'm sharing this with You isn't to make myself look good or any of that other petty crap. It's because i want to tell You that i understand where You are coming from on some level.  Many times through my career i've had to walk into a CEO's office and inform them what my co-worker, supervisor, etc is doing.  Why? Because i have to hold on to my integrity.  At the end of the day, i have to stay when everyone else gets to go away.  i'm stuck with me.  i must live in my own skin and i'd prefer to do it with comfort and a sense of being okay with who i am.
Whatever happened i am sorry You are having to go through this.  Whatever happened i hope You are able to see the forest through the trees.
Kali

I am sure she does not care if they love her or not.  Being able to look at yourself in the mirror and not being disappointed with what you see is much more important to her than some co-workers affection.

It takes a lot of courage to risk everything. I'm not that brave. Plus the people who draw lines tend not to do so only in important things, they tend to draw lines about a lot of stuff. Most of us like a more peaceful existance, a less adversarial ones.

And I do live in a cabin on the side of a mountain. The older I get, the harder the wood stacking gets!
