My genre of novels is supernatural/paranormal romance, but girl also favors lifestyle biographies and fantasy eroticism.
Examples of authors already read (may read again).

Susan Wright: To Serve and Submit, Pound of Flesh
Nancy Madore: The Twelve Dancing Princesses
A.N.Roquelaur (Anne Rice): Sleeping Beauty Trilogy
Kelly Armstrong: Stolen, Bitten, Dime Store Magic, Industrial Magic, Haunted, Broken, Personal Demon, No Humans Involved
Emma Holly: Prince of Ice, Fairyville
Christine Warren: The Demon You Know, She's No Faerie Princess, Wolf At The Door
Nage Archer: Slave Heart (reference to the Laneans, has similarities to the Goreans, but only a very dark side of possibilities)
Claire Thompson: Slave Girl

Arthur Golden: Memoirs of a Geisha
Mineko Iwasaki (with Rande Brown): Geisha, A Life

That has been all that girl has read in the last six months.

Have yet to read my Gorean set of novels, doubt girl ever will, but girl has them just in case girl is starved for something to read.

Mind you, still have all my science texts to read (again): Comparitive Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Medical Physiology, Developmental Biology, Physics and Quantum Physics.(Mostly reference material)

At the moment I am reading "Princeps' Fury" the 5th book in the "Codex Alera" series by Jim Butcher. A good read. I am very much in love with Jim Butchers other series, "The Dresden Files", too.

The Christkindchen will bring me a nice, big package of books. Among others the whole "Temperance Brennan" series by Kathy Reichs.

Other than Jim Butcher, I would recommend David Eddings, of course, but would also suggest to stay away from his latest work and go with the classics like the "Belgariad", "Malloreon", "Elenium", and the "Tamuli".

The second circle of Jaqueline Careys "Kushiel" series is now complete, and worth a read.

I like the "Mrs. Murphy Mysteries" by Rita Mae Brown, but find them getting weaker the more she writes.

"The Peace War" and the loosely connected follow up "Marooned in Realtime" by Vernor Vinge have been constant favourites over the years.

I have not really a favourite genre, but I do like a good deal of fantasy, crime, and contemporary fiction.

I like mostly non-fiction.
A lot of local history, dating back to "first contact" times (first contact between euro-descended americans and native americans, that is) ...
"The Canoe and the Saddle" is the current one...

Also read graphic novels for fun (those seem to be memoirish, thus non-fiction, often, but I like just plain ole comics, too)...

I've been into listening to books on CD from the library lately; the current one is "Self Made Man" by Nora Vincent. In it she dresses like a man and joins typically male groups to try to find out some of what the experience of being male is like.
I like her take on the whole project. She doesn't pretend to be objective, and she does research just to satisfy her own curiosity, which I admire.

Michael Chabon, Yiddish Policeman's Union is a tour de force. I've requested his 'Jews with Swords' as a Hanukkah gift.

For indulging in lit at lower costs, my fav used sites are www.alibris.com and www.abebooks.com, unlike amazon these will tell you detailed info about the condition of the books.

College Calculus. I had a hard time with it 40 years ago because they never gave examples of what it could be used for. Why would I want to know the volume under a curve? Now that I know the calculations can tell you how much dirt is under a hill, calculus seems interesting. You can ascertain the volume of the hill. How big a dump area you will need to remove the hill and how long it will take. And, you can find out how much level area will be usuable after you remove the hill.

After reading this I am sure I need a life. However, you could use calculus to ascertain the volume and surface area of breasts and just obtaining the measurements could be interesting----Oh well, I also have been reading TheRise and Fall of the Third Reich for the third time. No wonder my wife says she comes over for the entertainment value.
