In the age of entitlement who better to become Senator through name entitlement? I think her appointment is a perfect compliment to in incoming administration. It's perfect! Her privileged background makes sure that she isn't tainted by the realities of life, getting a job based upon merit, or budgeting income. That sets a clear path to focusing and representing the people truly important to her and her party - the lobbyists for special interests.

It's good to see the Medici's, I mean the Kennedy's next generation come to the forefront. How else can Joe's bootleg money be influential to a new generation after John John did his Uncle Teddy driving routine while flying his Cessna.

Good for her, and the representation of the 'change' her appointment represents.

I dont think anyone should get an appointment, or even the position if obtained for that matter, based on name entitlement. Merrit and performance is one thing, be it either party actually. But solely on "name entitlement" and "old man Joe" is not what it should be all about......but then again, since when are the politics of ANY what they should be?

She's been very involved with the New York City school systems. She's been a major fundraiser for them, raising over $65,000,000. This school system teaches children who speak over 90 different languages. If you think that being involved in running one of the nation's largest school systems is equal to vacationing, I think you need your head examined.

Beyond that, this seat was held by Robert Kennedy who went from being a lawyer to Attorney General of the United States. Its previous occupant was a lawyer who went from first lady to it.

Compared to Republican Peter King from Long Island, who is desperate to get to the Senate despite being voted down time after time in primaries, Caroline Kennedy is a great choice. Personally I also like Andrew Cuomo, son of a former governor who went from being a lawyer to a major federal position and is the present state AG.

I think Ms. Kennedy should have been named Secretary of Education.  As far as Robert Kennedy going from lawyer to Attorney General....errr..you might have forgotten one little detail..his brother was President!
With respect to the "former First Lady" getting the seat...you obviously don't live in New York State but the state is overwhelmingly democrat and Mr. Wrangle (who has his own corruption issues) got her to run on the ticket when the Clinton's were the darlings of the party.

What is the problem with americans...since when are we a country that has a dynastic approach to rulers where a few families...Kennedy, Bush, Clinton, run the country.  We fought King George to get rid of royalty and 200 years later we are creating "royalty".  That is the only thing recommending Carolyn...her family name.  Gimme a break!  There are so many other more qualified people that could be appointed in NY State but the old hippies are dying for a return of Camelot...a place that never existed.

Is it too early for Chelsea Clinton to occupy senat seat she deserves?

Yes, but I'm sure she could still qualify as a page or an intern somewhere.....now that her hair's fixed she's cute enough.

I don't think her daddy would allow her to become an intern...she might run into some perverted power players.
