no windfall profit tax, no pullout of iraq, a bailout again with the big 'o' rubber stamp, and a centrist cabinet.  keep blindly following obama i say.  as for me, i'll wish things weren't going all 1984.

edit to add- lets not forget the tax cut stays in...

bestbabync -> RE: A third party in US politics (12/15/2008 6:47:12 PM)

hey Aynne

i didn't mention the masses, i just quoted previous post.

the next four years is just more corruption and deceit.  no different than the last 8years.

oh and i will repeat...the minority won our independence from the british, not the masses.

edited to correct misspelling.

Aynne88 -> RE: A third party in US politics (12/15/2008 6:52:52 PM)

You do know he is not President yet correct? Bush the lessor is still the "man" in charge. I love how you guys try to pin stuff on a man that has not spent one day in the office of the Presidency yet. Jesus Christ.[8|]

1984? I wish things were going all 1992 and 1996, well except without assholes like Bob Barr and Ken Starr having a hard on over a witch hunt regarding a blow job.

well he really is not my first choice to lead the Libertarian party.  but he won the nomination for 2008.  i do prefer Ron Paul and or Wayne Root.  no politician is perfect in his personal life.  look at old Bill C.....LOL!

as for abortion...i am pro life, yes.  the thing i love about the Liberty party is to each his own!  this is off topic but social issues such as abortion should be a state gov issue, keep the feds out of it!

remember the minority i mentioned?  the masses can follow blindly if they want, but not this ole girl!

I don't blame you at all for not following the masses. I feel the same way. But today, rogues just don't win presidential elections. It takes money, influence and power, and this day and age those three things seem to lead a path straight to the same sort of corrupt individuals we deal with in National politics now.

rachel529 -> RE: A third party in US politics (12/15/2008 7:02:03 PM)

first, what i posted is what Obama has said, like how he will leave in the bush tax cut, and how private buisness needs a public bailout.   second, 1984 is a book.  third, i dont drink democrat koolaid.   but help yourself.

Excuse me but not all liberals (or republicans) are blind masses. How insulting, especially from you baby, someone that has links to totally debunked garbage rumor mill websites like that "how obama got the vote" bullshit.

Please, the ignorant, brain washed and stupid got Obama elected. They were either young and ignorant voters or were brain washed by the media.

An example is how many liberals still think that Palin stated that she could see Russia from her porch. There was a Zogby poll that showed exactly how ignorant Obama voters were.

If only voters had to pass a basic civics test to actively vote maybe we wouldn't have so many issues. As it is, people get what they deserve.

The US only briefly, left the British Empire. ..  we are all subjects of the city of London 2008.    There...I said it.

You should have edited for your ignorance of history.  The majority of American colonists were supporters of the Revolution.  Only about 20-30% of colonists were loyalists, and that information is widely avaliable from a plethora of sources.  The Library of Congress has a page that tells you all about it.

Your attitude and the attitude of many who want to start third parties is exactly why they fail.  Most Americans are centrists; they either fall left of center or right of center.  It's a historical and universal truth that people don't tend to gravitate towards politically extreme positions unless things are really bad.  It's not that bad, we've seen worse and it didn't happen.  A civil war that killed 600,000+ people didn't cause it, and a great depression didn't cause it.  You can wish all you want, but it's not going to happen.

If you don't like the way a party is, than get involved.  You aren't going to accomplish your goals by joining with a handful of extremists and shaking your fists.  And, spare me any macho, bravado about an armed rebellion.  The second bullets started flying, the guys that espouse that nonsense would shit their pants and cry for their mommas.

werent there more than two parties in the 1800s?  of course, more americans supported the revolution... and no armed revolution against helicopters and tanks, those days are gone...

Yeah, and there is more than two parties now.  Third parties occassionally get a lot of votes in a national election.  But, they've never won a Presidential election.  The most divided election was in 1860, when the two party system fell apart.  Because of that disintegration, Lincoln won with 39% of the electoral vote.  I think you know what happened next.

Third parties don't unite people, they divide.  In 1860, they caused the worst war in American history.

bestbabync -> RE: A third party in US politics (12/15/2008 8:00:41 PM)

so sorry, i am not a historian, but i do remember in my history class and some of my reading the truth about the signing of the constitution. the first continental congress most representatives wanted only redress from the crown, not independence.  not until the second continental congress did a handful lead by John Adams (second POTUS) desire independence.  it was not signed on july 4 but on august 2nd by some of the representatives on that date.  those men were considered traitors to the crown.  many traveled in secret to philadelphia to sign the declaration of independence.....there is a portrait in DC that depics the constitution being signed with all the delegates together lined up waiting for their turn, but that is not how it happened.  alot of those men were farmers and could not come to congress until after harvest.  history is not always recorded properly.  many times it is made up like a fairy tale with a nice little bow on it.  just like the media presented PE Obama to the "masses"[:D]

so three divides more than two?  wow... and recently we've had perot and nader... there are countries with more than two viable parties, israel and japan to name a couple...
