Personally, I have no time for anyone who acts out to get attention (my definition of a "brat"). I would never begrudge another of their kink, but I want a slave that wants to submit.

We visited a friend and her Master a few weeks ago and they had another sub there who was the brattiest girl I've ever seen. I whispered to Master "and you thought I was cheeky!" She seemed to be deliberately acting out to get attention and "punishment". Master has little tricks however that are not fun (like a finger flick to the forehead) which the other Master utilised to good effect! [;)]

I have been known to be one from time to time and am not ashamed to admit it! I only act bratty in a playful way though, as I am a playful person. I prefer it to flat out saying "I want a spanking."

To echo what foxglove said, I posted this in the "Spanking" thread the other day, and it's valid here, too!

"Scening is predominantly when I'm in the mood. But the girl has her ways, too! She can always ask but mostly she'll do something a little brattish that causes me to "lock phasers" and act. And I'm comfortable with that despite those who might incorrectly believe she's topping from the bottom. But as with all things, too much of anything is ultimately a tiresome burden, so it needs balance. I have no time or need of a perpetual brat but I enjoy occasional bratty behaviour, yes. Too much suggests either she has issues or I simply can't give her the control she needs and we'd both probably be better off parting and none at all means I'm gonna get bored if I hafta make all the running to spark a dynamic.... In moderation works for me.

Master would never tolerate me being a "brat". We use to hang out with another M/s couple that the sub was an attention seeking brat, she got attention but it was negative. I've always noticed this about some of the bratty subs, they somehow think sub=child, they will talk like little girls, "Oh, this one needs to go potty!" or stomp their foot in a little temper tantrum, i just look at them and think, ok bitch you're in your 30's, you're not a lil girl anymore....by a long shot! lol

Depends. Everyone has their moments, and I have no problem with something occasional and in private -- it can be a lot of fun. *G* What I don't want is someone who is constantly a brat and most especially is one in public. A bratty child is NOT endearing to anyone, and an alleged grown-up acting as bad or worse is not acceptable to me. At best they are a waste of my time.

Regarding bratting: Three snaps..."hate it!"

"Hate" does seem to be very strong word...but it fits when it comes to brats that don't know when to turn it off. I "hate" the behavior, not the person.

Bratting during scenes, or perhaps at a spanking party, may be appropriate and mostly entertaining, but I loathe those that can't turn "it" off. I really only enjoy adult behavior, and don't see bratting as part of that interaction...ever.

Well myself i am a good combination of everything and at times yes i am bratty, but i do try and read from him if i can go there or not.

i have acted a brat, in the past, out of fear and insecurity, to Master...but it is not my nature to do so. he does not tolerate brat behavior.

since i do not like causing his displeasure and the forthcoming punishment, this skewed thinking has been corrected, talked out and explored to the point of knowing what was causing it.

however i am still playful but not in a bad way.

but i dont take 'no sheeeeeeeeeet' from other slaves...nor will i call everyone master or sir...but i do know my place.

but i dont feel i am a brat

Depends. A perpetual brat, like Focus and others have said, are a waste of time and effort. Why would I want a person that will act out for attention at every turn. Who won't do as they're told even once.

Now, a playful brat, like foxglove, would be fun. I enjoy someone who is being playful and my girls are playful................ until I pull out the pliers

Is being sarcastic being a brat? No, not always. Depends on when, where and in what way you're being sarcastic. Sarcasm with obvious disrespect, not tolerated. Not with me.

Interesting topic, though. I never really thought much about brats until now.

Aren't we all adults here? In my relationship "Stop that behavior" is enough - if it even gets *that* far!

My opinion of brats - they are either not comfortable with their masochism and they feel the need to *cause* someone to hit them, or they really don't want to be obedient in the first place and are seeking attention.

I have never been called bratty

Spirited, sassy, opinionated yes, ....and have been encouraged to be all of those

But a brat...no way, would not be stood for in any way

There is nothing "wrong" with it, it just isn't the way I ride. I guess it all comes down to the simple fact that I am in this because I like to get my way. I don't want to be pushed or teased or cajoled or bratted into doing anything.

Good behavior is its own reward. I want a slave, not a child.

Of course, that is just me.
