HA!

Fun times, indeed.

I see a lot of subs, and slaves have single tail whipping listed as an interest on their profiles. I am wondering how many actually experience single tail whippings regularly?

As a top I go through periods in my life when I may find myself throwing a single at someone a couple of times a week. Sometimes I go for months without throwing one at someone. It just depends on how things are coming together at that time. I keep my skills fairly sharp (or so I like to think). I can usually hit the nipples the way I want to significantly more often than I miss them.

As a bottom I don't bottom often enough to say "regularly," but when I do bottom it's not uncommon for the single tail to be part of the games. I play rough on the bottom too and like the kind of push a single can give you.

For me, the comparison of the feel of receiving the single against 'thud' or 'sting' doesn't really describe it accurately. To me the single feels like bursts of intense, white heat that rapidly, but lingeringly, dissipate across the body.

Sting doesn't describe it adequately and thud as a contrast isn't really accurate either. <shrug>

Only a slight derailment of topic...

I want to buy a new single tail (or maybe a matched pair) and have so many choices. I know who the best makers are supposed to be but what type do I want--Bull, stock, snake, target, signal, quirt?

I'm thinking I want something somewhat small because of space issues in the places i'm most likely to use it.

I's like something I can (with practice) use on someone without too much damage (cuts).

I'd like something that can make some noise.

I think I would like something that I can change the popper on so that I can be body fluid safe if I use it on more than one person.

Beyond that, aesthetics matter and I'm not sure what else. any suggestions?

Advice to the top: Fill them up REALLY tight, they're easier to pop that way.

or, if you are looking for more of a good practice item, fill one 3/4 of way with helium, tie at appropriate height, and have at it - you can tell if you have hit the balloon, and how hard you hit it by how much it reacts, but will be difficult to pop since the walls of the balloon are still relatively thick as its not stretched out all the way

just my tuppence

SherriA -> RE: Single tail whipping (8/13/2004 2:09:10 PM)

If you want to be able to change out the end, don't get a braided in popper, like a signalwhip has. Bullwhips, stock whips, snake whips generally have an end that's easily changed out.

The best idea would probably be to try the different styles and see what you're most comfortable with. Stock whips tend to have fairly long handles, so if you're looking for something small, that might not be the best choice.

You might consider a snake whip. You can get a 3' whip, which will suit your space constraint needs, has a fall before the popper so the popper is easy to change out, and it throws similarly to a signal (which I think is one of the easier whips to throw). My only complaint with a short whip is that the rhythm is a bit faster (unless you are the sort to only throw one stroke at a time).

I would also like to add that it may not be wise to buy a singletail online....unless you are very familiar with the whip maker and the product.

I wouldn't argue with that, although my caveat is that I really love my murphywhips.com whips, and since he's in australia I haven't had a lot of opportunity to try his out before I bought them. I've had three and loved every one; and he doesn't make you wait for a year for a whip.

True. Murphy whips are some of the best in the world, but as you are familiar with the product and the whip maker...and I believe he guarantees his work...so you're pretty secure in laying down some big bucks for a solid whip. You know you're getting a quality toy.

lillpurr29 -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/2/2004 9:50:05 PM)

Singletails, yum yum. I've been lucky enough to know a few people that are proficient with them. The most rememberable time was being on a cross and the dom was using two at once...there was a puddle underneath me lol.
I most remark though...some do mark some and others are show. But what a show haha.

merrymasochist -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/3/2004 5:46:27 AM)

i've experienced singletail whippings on a regular basis and actually like them better than straps and belts...

subbiejenn -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/3/2004 5:50:29 AM)

i had my first single tail whipping not long ago, was GREAT! He took it pretty easy on me but i can't wait to do it again *smiles* specially with this special Dom... It is His favorite also so i am sure i will be feeling it a lot! *WIGGLES*

Maltor -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/3/2004 7:31:38 AM)

If you are interested in seminars as well... we have a man here who is well known for his skill with whips of all types. (He does sell whips on his site, I've not seen the quality personally so cannot speak for them).

his personal website:

Maltor -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/3/2004 8:01:31 AM)

For practice I've used pillows by themselves or pillows with saranwrap around them... the saran wrap will split if it's wrapped tightly giving a idea of your control and how much sting it would leave. I have heard of others using paper on a wall and using that for gaining accuracy...

I have met WhipMaster Bob and will vouch for the quality of his products. I have 4 floggers and a Patterson Twin Tail that I purchased from him. (I know he's in a business relationship with Robert (I think it's Robert) Patterson, but he may actually construct the whips himself.) I have also attended some of his "Hots and Shots" training classes on temporary level I piercings. He makes outstanding toys at reasonable prices.

Maltor -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/3/2004 8:32:37 AM)

Thanks for the post Thorns, I won't vouch for a product I've not handled myself.

I have seen his seminars and they are incredible... just ask Syn, she's been on snappy end of his whip before.

kiki blue -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/29/2004 2:03:29 PM)

OO single tails :)

When I was at The Crucible in DC last Friday, I watched a gentleman who spent a lot of time practicing with a single tail and a bull whip. I watched him do a scene with someone, and decided I wanted to try it. After a bit, I asked him if he'd like to play, so that I could get a taste of what it was like, to which he graciously accepted [:)] (me being a complete stranger and foreigner didn't put him off lol).

He did go lightly on me, but took it up a couple of levels, and it was good to finally feel what it was like. It's something I wouldn't mind trying again at another time (to do that balloon scene I mentioned too).

Mercnbeth -> RE: Single tail whipping (9/29/2004 2:16:17 PM)

I do almost daily, because I'm practicing and trying my best to be proficient enough to feel comfortable using it on beth.

find a teacher -- many outside the scene are open to teaching as well.
