When a woman writes to you on CM, do you automatically assume she is interested in you in that way?  Whether for a potential relationship, a casual throw-down, whatever?

Does it occur to anyone that if a woman comments on something in your profile or journal, or asks a question about it, that's all it is?  Or is it pretty much a given that such a thing does not exist (and I'm just fooling myself)?

I will take the message at face value, and respond accordingly.  I like the compliments, don't mind the questions and am pleased by the 'thank you' messages.

If she's available and I'm available, I'm likely to check out her profile in 'that way' anyhow, to see what the likelihood of there being anything for us, regardless of her original intent.

...I have commented on more profiles than usual lately, and several of them, instead of responding to the question I asked, said something like, "thanks for writing, but I don't think we're a match"... HUH? ...

Cripes!  I don't get even that much when I spend half an hour or more writing to someone!  You should be glad you get a response of any kind

I always figure they're wanting some of my recipes.

Thats right, baybeee...we are after your culinary delights...youre onto us!!

Actually, i often comment on others profiles, pictures or cmail people out of the blue due to a post they have made or whatnot...and if its a dominant man, he generally answers the question gracefully. Only on occasion do i later discover that i was being hit on....its always after the fact and im constantly surprised. im only owned now by accident or coincidence or some such thing...i wasnt even actively involved in that decision until it had been effectively made...

But im also the girl who insists that she was "tricked' into losing her virginity and "accidentally" had a baby thru AI....so there you have it.

I never get cmails from women wanting me in "that way", so i just assume they have a comment about something or other (usually my sig line)

I might have all sorts of intuitions and maybe some hopes - but I'll assume nothing other than what's actually said.  Or more correctly, if I do assume something, I'll make every effort not to show it.  I've managed to maintain some tiny sense of being a gentleman, I hope.

I try to assume nothing. I've commented to people innocently, just as I have gotten innocent comments. All it was and all it was meant to be.

If I get any mail, I will read and respond accordingly, I don't jump to any conclusions from a single mail. I respond, and if more mail is exchanged, I still wouldn't assume anything, but I'd probably ask if they wanted to chat on instant messenger. I do enjoy casual flirting, but try not to read too much into it.
