Stephann -> Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/24/2008 11:49:13 PM)

Hi Folks,

So, on the heels of the past couple of threads we've had to discuss the adult entertainment industry, we thought we'd open the floor to some questions on an world that lots of folks might have questions about, but no real clue as to where to look.

If anyone is curious to know about pornography (videos or print), dancing, escorting, or any related issues (health, emotional, social, etc) feel free to ask here and charlotte & I will be happy to help as best we can.

Stephan

Greetings Stephan,

A twofold question here:

In regards to porn in print, if one was wanting to try try their hand at becoming a model; it's it as difficult as it is to being in film and secondly: what advice would you have to a person wanting to try their hand at this?  Thanks.

This is a tacky question, I know.....

How much does a porn actress make on a kink.com shoot?

kiwisub12 -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 12:28:05 PM)

Ok - Why do the guys seem to always wear - and leave on - their white tube socks?  I do have to qualify this and say it seems to be vanilla porn that is the main culpurit of this unseemly practise.

Also, do guys (and maybe girls) really get turned on  by the sight of a man coming onto a womans face? I'm thinking the answer is yes since the directors spend an inordinate amount of time on the visuals  -  but what makes it so sexy for men?

If Im still rampant by the cum shot, its boring the pants offa me and the cum shot really just makes me irritable.
Does absolutely nothing for me.
Sorry to semi hijack,
Im too old for modelling in porn, too fat too, these days my interest is only in femdom.... pics, vids , art,
Altho I do  have enough regular porn, vanilla and kink to last me a hundred years.
Lucy

The cum shots are a major turnoff.  Am I really in the minority?  I know I'm not the only person who feels that way.

I know that when my ex ran off to California and got into it, the dollar amount depended on what she was willing to do. Anal with a man being the most profitable. Even so, it wasn't something she was going to get rich on.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 1:43:11 PM)

Why is so much porn so immature? They call it "adult" entertainment, but the stuff seems to be created by and for emotionally stunted males.... guys stuck in a perpetual state of adolecence.

When the hell will the "adult" industry grow up, and realize that much of the appeal to these sexual fantasies they sell is the emotional context, as well as the physical fucking?
Is it really so impossible to tell a good story along with the hot, down and dirty sex?

Phil Foglio does it in his Xxxenophile comics... when is someone in the video industry ever going to wake up and offer us all something we can enjoy, something that's worth watching for longer than it takes some one to masturbate?

Porn is too damned important to be left in the hands of cloddish morons with a DV cam.

LaTigresse -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 1:47:43 PM)

Lets face it, watching regular people have sex is USUALLY, really funny at best. I don't think I've spent more than $100.00 total for porn in my entire life. I've had stuff given to me that I've never even seen. It really just doesn't do a thing for me. But that's me. I know that many more people are alot more visual than I am. I would do better as a genuine voyeur. Knowing what goes on behind the scenes and knowing that it's all staged for some schmuck to make $$ rather ruins any smidge of thrill I might possibly get.

hopelessfool -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 1:58:24 PM)

okay several questions one why do the men always wear their wedding rings?
Two, Why is it  when its girl on girl porn they barely put even an inch or more of the toy in the girl?
why in guy on girl on guy  do they aways put the man with the worst looking ass on top i mean the shrivaled balls and really hairy butt... ?

and finally, why is it the penis always looks deflated, i mean i understand big cocks are the "thing" but where are the good pornos with a guy with out a penis enlargment surgery?

Sexual fantasies don't have an "emotional context", except in that perversity known as the "chick flick."

Hot sex with an emotional context is called a "relationship".  Hot sex because its fun is called "being horny."

Porn keys off the latter option.

Stephann -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 3:05:55 PM)

Hey folks,

Bear, your question could probably be a thread of it's own.  I'll give a brief outline though.

First, content in print (nowadays) has become second to content in video.  Print and/or stills shoots (since most 'still' content ends up on a website anyway) is often recruited through sites like modelmayhem.com and onemodelplace.com, often by a mixture of 'TFCD' shoots (Time for CD) or paid shoots.  TFCD means the photographer and model both own the rights to use the material equally, in any manner either wishes to use it, without having to pay the other party.  Basically the model shoots for free, the photographer shoots for free, and they go their separate ways without money ever changing hands.

Getting paid still work usually requires having a portfolio of some sort, i.e. photos that show how you look to your best advantage.  It isn't enough just to say "I'm willing to be in front of the camera"; you need to have photos that might compel a photographer to shoot you in the first place.

Rates really depend on the work you're doing, but a fetish and/or porn model at the top of her (and I do mean her) game can earn roughly $100 an hour, with shoots usually ranging from 1-5 hours (and 3.5 hours being pretty normal.)  Again, there's no hard and fast rule here as the amount of time, compensation, and working enviroment are almost completely set by the photographer, since he's the one who'll ultimately be doing something with the content.

So, as far as advice, do your homework.  Take a good look in the mirror, and ask yourself how you'll feel in a month, year, or decade about having your face in a shoot (or several shoots.)  If your best friend, worst enemy, mother, son, or great aunt came across your work (eventually they will.)  Is it something you'd be proud of, or something you'd feel ashamed of?  Do you see yourself enjoying it?  What exactly are you willing to do, and do you honestly believe what you're willing to do is something people will want to photograph?  (I've heard a number of girls saying they're willing to be in a video, but only if they're wearing a mask; sorry to say, that's not a particularly popular genre, and not likely to land you much work.  It's like saying you'll work as a stripper, but only if you're allowed to wear a green clown wig and face paint when you do it.)  If you're ok with all this entails, you'll need to get some photos for your portfolio, and start sending them out to photographers.

lucious,

The answers to your question are found on Kink's Model Call page.  Kink.com pays only slightly less than mainstream, vanilla porn (and unlike movies shot in LA, Kink pays for flights to San Francisco.)  It might be important to understand that Kink is one of (if not the) highest paying BDSM porn site in the industry.  Your average fetish/kink shoot pays (women) between $250 to $600 per day (which may include four to seven scenes depending on the company, director, etc.)

kiwisub,

While many women do buy porn, the overwhelming majority of adult content consumers are men.  Men aren't usually paying for what they already see, they're paying for what they usually can't see.  The facial 'pop' shot is something many vanilla wives & girlfriends are turned off by.  It's also a visual depiction of the man's enjoyment, probably subconsciously signaling 'permission' to the male viewer to also orgasm.  Adult movies are consumer driven; films with facials, in general, simply sell better than films without facials.

As for the socks, again the point of the film is usually to see a beautiful woman having sex; the men in films are rarely given much (if any) attention, and are hired more because they can get and stay hard, and come on command as opposed to their visual appeal.  It's something that bothers me too, honestly, but male talent in the industry are barely an afterthought when it comes to making a video.  Something else worth noting, is that usually a video is shot in a strangers house who rents their home out as a location.  There's really no way to know how clean their floors are.

LAM,

Yup, you (and I) are pretty much in the minority.  And to make it worse, the 'internal' cum shot has become just as bad; the focus shifting from covering the girls face, to a close up, spread lip shot of goo coming down her legs.  It's about as hot as a dissected frog.

LaTigresse,

Yep, it really depends on what the woman's willing to do, and what is expected to be done.  Every act, more or less, has a price; a top 1% porn star earns (roughly)

Handjob - $200
Blowjob - $300
Solo - $600
Girl/Girl - $800
Girl/Girl/Anal (toys) - $900
Boy/Girl - $1000
Boy/Girl/Anal - $1200
Boy/Boy/Girl/Anal - $ 1300
Boy/Boy/Girl/Double Penetration - $1400

Again, those are 'base' day rates, for a top (not elite) performer.  Elite performers (such as Sasha Grey, Gianna Michaels, Bree Olson, Belladonna etc) are roughly the top 25 - 50 performers and can easily charge double or triple those rates.  Girls in the mid 25%-50% pool might earn 25%-50% less than the rates I've posted, depending on who they're shooting for.

Oh, a brief note; these are Los Angeles rates.  They can apply in Florida because of a few large companies there, but if you're shooting in Boise, ID or Detroit, MI, expect substantially lower rates.

Mars,

While a good question, take a good look at the basic interest people had in the recent election.  Porn isn't made either by or for intellectual elites; it's made by and for the lowest common denominator.  Highly intelligent erotica would be expensive to make, and likely sell very poorly.

hopelessfool,

Talent (male and female) who work in the industry are sometimes married.  In fact, they're sometimes married to other people who work in the industry.  Again, there's little attention actually paid to how the guy looks, what he's like, etc.  Male talent generally is paid 25% - 50% of what their female counterparts make, so the pool to draw from just isn't going to be as physically enticing.  Additionally, I think there's a good number of men who prefer to see less attractive men with beautiful women, so as to enjoy the fantasy that they, too, could score a girl like that.

As for toys, remember this is on camera; many girls don't like deep penetration of toys in the first place.  A shoot can sometimes compose of four or five hours worth of video for a half hour scene, so often you simply end up with the girls trying to be as gentle as they can.  Not a defense, just explaining some of the 'why.'

As for penis enlargement, I really don't know what you're talking about.  I'm not saying I don't believe it happens, I'm saying that the male talent I've met and worked with have all been natural.  charlotte sitting next to me says she wouldn't even know what it looks like, so maybe you can give us an example?  Penises come in all shapes and sizes, some harder, some puffier, some curved, some straight, so perhaps you're just looking at an oddly shaped one?

Hope that's a good start,

Stephan

When I first subscribed to sexandsubmission.com a couple of years ago, all of the shoots ended with the "dominant" cumming ON the "submissive" and never inside of any orafice.

At some point, something changed and now they'll cum in their mouths (not sure about the other two holes).  Does anyone know what changed that made it acceptable for them to do that?

Just curious!

OneMoreWaste -> RE: Everything you never wanted to know about porn.... (12/25/2008 4:35:14 PM)

Ok, this is something I've always been curious about, for Charlotte or anyone else who has done BDSM porn as a bottom:

When you are submitting/bottoming for a recording, how much are you able to actually focus on the scene? Do the crew, who may not be taken in by the energy of the scene but just doing their jobs, effect the way you feel? While the filming is taking place, does the idea that hundreds of men may soon be watching this and masturbating to it cross your mind, in an exhibitionist sense or any other? [:-]

Is there any way for a straight guy to make money?

Requirements:
Free accommodations preferably with running water (negotiable)
10.00 dollars a day for food (negotiable)
Live disease free women (live negotiable, but warmth is a requirement).

Ah, hell, what do I have to do to fuck 10 women a day for free?
[:D]

Rock hard:
Saggy balls
Ugly feet (this is why the guys wear socks, and I'm glad they do).
Drug Free

Yeah, and that's another turnoff.  What's with all the closeups?  Magnified ass zits and genital razor bumps are not exactly what I want to see in my porn.
