I don't think you can blame No Child Left Behind. There were just as many people being passed that shouldn't have been when I was in school. Education shouldn't be left solely in the hands of the public school system. Teachers are underpaid, with fewer resources than they need. How can we expect them to teach our children without the necessary funding and tools? Parents need to take a responsibility for their child's education and make sure that they know what they need to know.

I read to my son every night before bed, and he often requests it during the day. His can "read" me his favorite books, count to five, and tell me the color of almost anything I ask. He's two. It all depends on the parents. And for those of you wondering, I'm a single mom, I have worked full time for the last year and a half, and starting next month I will be a full-time college student. If we can make time for friends, tv, and the internet, then surely we can make time for our children.

5.   Requires "teaching to the test" rather than age appropriate knowledge, which is my biggest problem with it.

There will always be crappy school districts and/or individual schools that don't do what they should.  All I was saying is, don't blame the Act on the inability of adults to read.  Even if every single child could "pass the test", they would still be able to read.

I live in a fabulous school district, great teachers and principals, zero tolerance for bullying, expanded after school sports, expanded music program, very little violence... and the next town over for which we are pretty much a suburb has one of the worst school districts in the state, and the administration put it there.

NCLB has had little to no impact on our school district.  Oh yes, and my 8th grader reads higher than college level, carries a 4.0 gpa taking advanced math, advanced science, honors orchestra, and playing afterschool sports.

BondageBarbieX -> RE: Can People not read??? (12/28/2008 8:02:33 PM)

I get contacted by subs all the time male and female and beg me to own them and they know I am not a Domme but want to be owned by me.I own quite a few pets now and  they are so sweet and good to me but some do try to get me to Dominate them (the men especially)or call me Mistress and that just bugs the hell out of me.I tell them upfront that I will never dominate them.
I used to have subs only to contact me on my profile but kept getting contacted by so many Dominants it that I added them back to my profile.I also say friends only but still get offers from Dominants and even contracts in my mail.
Some people just don't read I guess or they just don't care.

beargonewild -> RE: Can People not read??? (12/28/2008 8:20:50 PM)

In situations such as yours, I just chalk it up to the person being lazy and simply not bothering to read the profile before writing. I don't think it's a case of they can't read, more that they are too lazy to read! I just laugh at the idiocy when I get the occasional message from a female sub writing and telling me that I'd be the perfect Dom/bf/husband for them.

So... when my profile states... loudly, clearly, blatantly that I am only looking for a female sub...... what possesses sub males to contact me?  Dominant couples to contact me?  Dom/sub Couples to contact me? Male Dominants to contact me.......  Seriously... is it the North American Education System letting illiterate people slip through the cracks?  Is it egos, desparation, ?????

Yes they can read. They just don't care to read. They don't care about the reality of you and your profile.

(He's a Pirate!)

And Fords need to be fixed all the time (Vega's only need a little oil every 350 miles).

Anyone else having this problem????

Oh come on.  It has nothing to do with being able to read. What it mostly has to do with is the fact that you have pussy and there's a dick involved with all the types you mentioned. The primary prerequisite for dick is that you have pussy. All the other stuff like what you want, what you're looking for come second to that consideration. Literacy is not the problem - except perhaps for those who write something like "Wud u like 2 meet?" The issue at hand is the lack of coherent thought available to one who has a dick and is desperately seeking somewhere to put it.
