ALAstella -> I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 4:39:09 PM)

Tonight I decided to stop continuing the Battersea Park Munch..

Nobody turned up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess.

But this is to let everyone know that there is no more Battersea Park Munch.

Gentle hugs, Stella. I am sorry it didn't work out for you.

I wish I could have gone to your munch.

yourMissTress -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 4:47:44 PM)

stella, you didn't fail.  The munch failed.  You did what you could to help it succeed.  You were there, you supported it, it didn't work.

Paraphrasing Thomas Edison, you didn't fail, you found something that didn't work.

and CHEERS to you for trying[sm=cute.gif]

Trying isn't failing.  Not trying is failing.

Lockit -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:07:48 PM)

It's a rough time of year for many things... I hope after the season... you all can bring it on again!  You didn't fail... no way!  hugs!

LadyPact -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:10:02 PM)

Um, yeah, I'm not getting the failure thing either.  A lot of groups have low or no attendance during the holidays.  You still tried and that's the important part.

Trust Me, if I was in the UK, I'd have been there.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:12:56 PM)

Another not getting the failure thing... do you notice a trend here?  Sometimes a project doesn't work out.  It might work at another place, who knows!  You put out an opportunity, and if no one was interested, you learned that much, anyway!

{{hugs the awesome Stella}}

kallisto -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:19:44 PM)

Someone else said as well... NOT trying is failing.  You tried, gave it your best shot and that's all you can ask of yourself.

mc1234 -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:22:31 PM)

I second the thought that this is a really rough time of year to get anything off the ground.  I've been involved in numerous events, and Dec/Jan/Feb are awful for both getting volunteers and participants.  Hugs to you for trying!

beargonewild -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:25:31 PM)

Stella....

I refuse to see and believe you being a failure with Battersea Munch! Having the drive and the ambition to host munches shows that you are successful. There are many reasons why people didn't attend and don't blame yourself, ok.

peppermint -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 5:55:36 PM)

We understand how you feel.  After 2 years we had to give up on a munch we tried to start.  The straw was having someone come in from out of town, and no one showed up.

Sometimes no matter how hard you try, things just don't work out.  You did your best.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 6:00:51 PM)

As many have already said, you didn't fail.  It's incredibly difficult to get a munch or similar group up and running.  I run a similar type of thing in my area.  It was just me and Spyder for almost a year before we started getting a regular crowd.  Even now, we still have very low turn-out some months.  Don't feel bad; you did your best.  That's more than enough.

Jeptha -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 6:58:36 PM)

Well, you can't hit them all out of the park you know (sorry - baseball analogy).

I admire that you gave it a shot.

mummyman321 -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 7:36:56 PM)

Trying is the adventure. Without trying you never discover anything new. Failure is never trying anything

MarsBonfire -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 7:53:59 PM)

I've tried, off and of, to get a munch group going in my local area for about four years now. Only recently have people been showing up to it on a regular basis. The credit for it's success was not with me, however, but with the online network of prevy kids on the local campus. They were the ones who got the word out.

Take a break from it for a while... then, if you still think it's worth the effort, try again?

IronBear -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 8:07:52 PM)

I don't see failure, I see success and people failed to understand and support your success.

  Been there a few times lass, done that and have the t-shirts to prove it too… being Male, Blond (was), Virgo and part Irish, I’ll even do it again when my renovations are done.

BondageBarbieX -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 10:30:55 PM)

FullfigRIMAAM1 -> RE: I tried.. and failed.. (12/30/2008 10:51:32 PM)

The failure was on the part of the people who didn't take the free gift of your time, organization, and information offered. Sharing space and information about this thing we do, which perplexes many people, and leaves others feeling lost and alone, is a good endeavor to have, alas... Certainly, no failure on your part though. [sm=flowers.gif] M
