I will be out on the streets of my hometown (despite the -15 windchill) looking for...fun or trouble, which ever comes first as my plans fell through and I have no intention of sitting on my butt eating shrimp and watching a glittering ball in NYC drop.

Moreover, I did not dig out my favorite heels and stockings to NOT wear them.

if not sleeping, will probably be watching something boring on tv and remembering its midnight when the fireworks go off at the east river location, not all that far from my apt, as the damn expensive ball drops in Times Square. That and wondering why idiots by the millions will be there with a wind chill of -5.
You couldnt pay me the amount of the cost of yet another new crystal ball to watch the damn thing drop.
Insanity I say.

I'll be online.  My kid, whom I miss dearly, is staying with friends until Saturday.  I'm alone this year, but I'm totally good with that.  It's just another night to me, I won't even watch the ball drop. Auld lang sine makes me cry anyway.   I'll be switching from vodka and cranberry juice to hot chocolate soon, and just feeling all cozy and warm.

Me, too, watching Babylon 5 and sipping North Coast's "Old Stock Ale", which I consider to be the finest Ami beer. (sipping; it's 12.5%ABV) I normally also have a Russian Imperial Stout like Old Rasputin (also from North Coast), or TenFIDY from Oskar Blues (like motor oil) or Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout, but tonight I'm a purist.

I ended up going to a friend's party with a friend where I ended up nursing my drink all night while I looked at the clock hoping my friend was ready to leave soon so I could go home. I would have rather been at home by myself than being bored to tears.

its 12:30 on new years day afternoon... we are sitting in bed, thinking about getting up. last night we spent the midnight hour with 110 "friends", at ST's. Chilled, relaxed, chatty, sober, (at least I was) and enjoying the company of so many like minded people.

We wish each and every one of you a wonderful 2009!

While I didn't manage to spend new year's sleeping - I did manage to spend it without dad waking up incessantly wanting something stupid or needing help.  I managed to spend the last few minutes of last  year and the first half hour of this year relaxing in the hot tub.  I'd say that's a decent way to start things off, since there was zero chance of starting it off by getting thoroughly fucked bowlegged...

We stayed home and enjoyed a bottle of bubbly while we scanned the NYE shows on the tube. I played in bar bands for many years and worked enough new year's eves. I will likely never go out again on NYE.
