slaveluci -> Twilight Zone - Best Episode(s) ever???? (12/31/2008 12:22:38 PM)

On the Sci-Fi Channel, there is currently a "Twilight Zone" marathon.  I love that old show and have so many favorite episodes.  If I had to pick just one, it would have to be "Time Enough At Last" where Burgess Meredith plays Henry Bemis,
a henpecked book lover who finds himself blissfully alone with his books after a nuclear war (according to IMDB).  The twist at the end is that his coke-bottle glasses fall off and break and he can't see to read them [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m17.gif[/image].  He finally had all the time in the word and then cruel fate[&o].

Anyway, it got me to thinking about what some others' favorites might be.  It's hard to choose I know but what would be your pick for number 1?

Just curious.................luci

Ah, yes - starring "The Shat!"  That one was called "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" and was written by Richard Matheson (one of the kings of horror writing).  Good choice!

special category Simpsons versions-Nightmare at 20,000 feet(bart on a ghoul bus), To serve Man(how to cook for forty humans)

That episode was also redone in the movie, with John Lithgow in Shatner's role.  Not sure which one was better.

Changing of the Guard is a must see-he is an incredible actor

I think the John Lithgow version was actually better, especially the very ending

PLEASE NOTE- THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD  9:00 A.M. TOMORROW
THE LAST FLIGHT 10:30 A.M. TOMORROW
PROBE 7: OVER AND OUT 3:00 P.M.

DVsFox -> RE: Twilight Zone - Best Episode(s) ever???? (12/31/2008 12:48:52 PM)

I think the best one is called Eye of the Beholder.

It's the one where they're doing plastic surgery to fix an ugly girl the entire episode, and when the surgery is over it's revealed that it was a failure.

Except that she's gorgeous.  However, everybody in that world is hideous, thereby making her the ugly one and everybody else normal looking.

I can't pick just one as a favorite. Serling was a master at his craft. He was born much too early. I would love to see what he could do with today's technology and what nightmares he could conjure up with it. He was truly ahead of his time!

Yes, that's a great one Fox.  It stars Donna Douglas (of "Beverly Hillbillies" fame).  Just goes to show that beauty is very subjective, for sure.  Thanks for reminding me of that one...............luci

Indeed!  I also love "Night Gallery."  I think some of those episodes are every bit as great as the "Twilight Zone" ones but that show remains underrated IMHO.............luci

snappykappy -> RE: Twilight Zone - Best Episode(s) ever???? (12/31/2008 1:14:38 PM)

but that is what was so good about rod s is that if he used todays technology it would not live up to what he did back then
especially the black and white

another favorite is the billy mummy one where he wished everyone into the corn

is that where they got the idea of the children of the corn idea and then tweaked it

DVsFox -> RE: Twilight Zone - Best Episode(s) ever???? (12/31/2008 1:14:43 PM)

One I've always enjoyed is on right now, I believe it's called "One for the Angels" and it's about a man who's told by death that he's about to die.  I would go on, but I don't want to spoil it since it's on for another 15ish minutes. :-p

Could be.  Stephen King has spoken about being very influenced by those old television shows, including "Twilight Zone" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."
