I love Johnny Cash. The song...ummmm...not so much.

It's against the law to live in Arkansas and not be a Johnny Cash fan.  I love him.

I could say I was a fan, but I'm not sure I can when I no longer have any of his music in the house - although one could say the person who borrowed it all for a week six months ago was a fan perhaps.

I must say that I am not a fan, and I mean not at all. Of anyone. However I liked some things he did, and at the top of the list of course is "A Boy Named Sue".

Also not a Harry Chapin fan, I have Taxi and Sequel, the latter of which I found found few in RL even aware of it's existence. For any who don't know, Sequel is exactly what it says it is, and I like it and always play the two in a pair.

At this point it would be nice if Cash were still alive to possibly  do a sequel to A Boy Named Sue. A Boy Named Sue Part Two !

Bellied up to the bar and ordered a beer,
Talked about Mom n cleaned the blood off my gun,
He started laughing when I was done,
When my hand went up and felt what was left of my ear

Nobody else could do it right. A unique voice and the talent to use it.

Is it cool to like Johnny Cash? [sm=cactus.gif]

I might have to come out of the closet...

Growing up, his were among my favorite records. (Black, round vinyl things, sort of like music CDs but only bigger). I laughed so hard the first few times I heard "A Boy Named Sue" that I thought my mom was going to take the record away from me. I mean, besides that song there were prison songs and train songs, and bleeped words...

He was a bad man. I mean, god damn...  "Cocaine Blues" anyone? But on the other hand, it was my mom who had bought the albums...

And yeah, I still do like him. I'm a fan!

Always LOVED Johnny Cash and in his Later life when he did Rusty Cage by Alice In Chains and Hurt by NIN I was AMAZED to see the scope and Vision of this man.

I Cried when I heard he Died. ..... They Played the Hurt Video and it was the first time I saw it and I wondered if it was the song he knew he would die putting out.

LOVE ME SOME CASH

My Dad was a huge country music fan, so I grew up listening to Johnny Cash.  His voice was second to none.  I think he's just awesome.

Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" may very well be one of the few times in music history where a cover revealed more of the substance of the song than the original.  I get chills every time I listen to it.

No  kidding. That made me cry the first time I saw it. Johnny Cash is a legend. What a life story he told.

When I was 11, for Christmas, I got my own stylish grown-up record player, and the first album my mom bought me was "Johnny Cash, Live At San Quentin".     I hear that train a-comin'.......

Of course it is.

You don't have a "music collection" without some Johnny Cash in it.

(he got edited more than I do ...... he must be considered cool !)

Cash is,was and will allways be an American treasure.A true musical star whose gift evolved and grew with the changing landscape, allowing him to span generations and transcend typical musical boundries.

I hear the train a comin'
it's rolling round the bend
and I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when,
I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on
but that train keeps a rollin' on down to San Anton..
When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,
always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
now every time I hear that whistle I hang my head and cry..

I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car
they're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars.
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free
but those people keep a movin'
and that's what tortures me...

Well if they'd free me from this prison,
if that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move just a little further down the line
far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay
and I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.....

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: Any Johnny Cash Fans??? (1/4/2009 9:39:14 PM)

I think my Johnny Cash collection has more in it at this point than anything else. I've loved him since I was like 9 or 10 when my dad would play him when we'd go fishing.

came4U -> RE: Any Johnny Cash Fans??? (1/4/2009 10:15:45 PM)

Althought Walk the Line has been out for a few years now...did everyone enjoy it as much as I did??

Can't watch it enough.
I think Phoenix and Whitherspoon did the most remarkable job.
