No he didnt blind me does that make it any less valid?  And no he wasnt 'busted' I didnt go to the police. I just dont really like people speaking for me in what punishment someone deserves.

One of the most valid arguments against the death penalty is killing the wrong person.

And what kind of justice would it be if victims were able to devise their own punishment for those who perpetrated crimes against them?

Who needs the justice? the victim or the state?

"Who needs the justice? the victim or the state?"

Quite profound. One might wonder why fines imposed are not disbursed to the victims, if they are ever collected.

However, if someone is the type to rape ANYONE, I do not want them in society with MY loved ones. That is my right. As a respectable member of society I am expected to conform to certain standards. One of those standards is to recognize other people as people, not pieces of meat for my sexual gratification. This is a bit more serious than stealing a loaf of bread. The rapist does not see his victim as human, so why should society see the animal as human ? Not to mention what he might do to someone else later on.

I do not promise anything, but I did say that I would rebut myself on the death penalty, so in keeping with my word I shall do so now. The two valid rebuttals IMO are these :

1. This government has no problem with setting someone up and framing them. When they do this sometimes they get caught, and a live victim of this can cause problems. Dead Men tell no tales. Abuse is rampant in our justice system and as much as I support executions, I don't think it should be left up to the government alone to decide who shall live and who shall die. We simply cannot trust them.

2. Evidence, as well as victims' recollections could be faulty. Every once in a while you hear about someone cleared on a rape charge by DNA evidence, after serving years in prison. If they had been executed that would be a greater injustice.

3. (wasn't going to be a three) In Texas, they had a guy they were going to execute, and absolute iron clad evidence was brought up that proved his innocence. However it was filed after some deadline had expired so it was rejected in the Texas courts. The appelations ran all the way up the the Supreme court and Texas fought all the way for the right to execute this person. They knew he was innocent. Eventually the Supreme court of the US ruled in favor of the state of Texas and he was executed. Any government that would do that is not to be trusted. Actually all it would have taken was the stroke of a pen by the governor, but at the time, that governor was none other than George W.Bush.

None of these issues have been brought up thusfar here, all I am hearing is about deterrent fators and all kinds of bullshit ideological crap. The fact is, a properly adminstered death penalty would do the world a world of good. You want animals raoming around ? Lions and tigers walking up the streets ? You want to be prey, fine go do it, but you are NOT gong to force me to live under the same conditions. Therefore my position stands on this matter.

Ahh this is something I wonder, my brother was recently assulted and was given a tiny % of the fine to fix the broken door. Mental.

To the rest, I actually did say that the wrong person may be killed (ie innocent)
