i am a married sub in a poly family, i have been married for 19 years now and collared for over 1 and in both cases there is still more to talk about and discuss  new things to discover and then discuss. i am very lucky to have so many to share my life and love with. there are comfortable quiet moments where just being there is important as well.

Not sure if this makes sense, as conversation are defined by an exchange of words, but I really do not believe that such a definition is true because some conversations do not require words, a simple look or touch can speak volumes and even ideas can be shared.
To a logical mind it would not make much sense, but for an emotional mind would make perfect sense.
Body language, facial expressions, colors worn, eyes and of course touch. Not a word spoken but an exchange has been shared and understood.

i haven't been with him for an immense amount of time, but sometimes it's just really cool what junk we end up talking about.
whether it's something that he knows that i don't, or that i know that he doesn't, it's nice
i dont necessarily think that running out of shared interests means something BAD on it's own, i think it can be a symptom of something else.
maybe people run out of things to say because one or both of them stops caring.
even something little like "how're things?" is still something to say =p and something little like that can easily turn into something huge if it matters enough.

I have never run out of things to say in a relationship, but I have run out of interest in hearing what the other person says, and run out of imagining they would be interested in what I had to say. I always have things to say. In my experience people stop talking because they already want to get the hell away from each other. Conversation would further a relationship they want to end. People who want to stay together will talk just to talk, whether they have anything to say or not.
