UncleNasty -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (3/18/2008 12:25:48 PM)

I'd been using no scene name for the first several years I was involved. Not a bg deal. People knew who I was and I usually responded when called, LOL Hadn't felt a real need for another moniker. My attitude was basically "What's in a name anyway?" A yahoo group of locals I belong to had a new member make a couple of posts. What a bombastic, bloviating, egomaniacal idiot. He began by insisting, demanding, that we show him the highest levels of respect at all time, He then informed us of his title and we were only to refer to him as "Master" something or other, or "Lord" so and so. I really don't recall what he wanted to be called. I think most of us just kind of read his post and thought "Is this guy for real?" In his second post he informed us of further demands. One of which was to never, ever approach or speak to his submissive. Under no circumstances. Man, did it rain on him, LOL He was met with a number of nasty retort posts. I sent one of my own too. I informed him that I would gladly respect his wishes and limits, but in doing so I'd have to keep him off of my party guest lists. As a host the safety of all my guests is of paramount importance, a foundational responsibility of mine. I was having a party in about 2 weeks time and expressed sadness (sarcastic of course) that I would not be able to invite and meet he and his sub. But, not being able to communicate fully with my guests could endanger one, or all, of them. Next I moved to a discussion of name and title, expressing that neither, particularly when self assigned, was grounds for automatic respect of others. Instead respect must be earned and is done so by consistently erespectful behavior and treament of others. I signed the letter: Sincerely, Sir Lord Knight Master Dom Glenn (my real name) We all had a good guffaw on that one. Fortunately we never heard from him again. A few weeks later, after years of not having a scene name, I kinda got a yin for one. Seeing as how I'd painted myself into a corner with the "Sir" type names I'd put a challenge before myself. But I never gravitated to that kind of name anyway so it wasn't insurmaountable. I considered it for a couple of weeks. Uncle Nasty just kind fell from the sky and landed at my feet. I liked the distinctivness and the humor so I stuck with it. Sincerely, Uncle Nasty
