Had QSL cards from Europe and South Africa back when I was in High School.
Running a HEAVILY modified Illegal CB with 1kw and an 18 db gain set of beams in the yard.
Bought filters for the neighbors TV's so they would be happy and able to watch TV. LOL

~fr~
I once had a temp job building shelving in a warehouse.
My employer had bought truck loads of used records (the long-playing phonograph kind) and filled the warehouse with boxes of them.
In order to make space, I had to open the boxes and fill the shelves as I built them.
The records were in absolutely no order, and my employer asked me to try and rough sort them by genre as I took them out of the boxes and put them on the shelves.
I remember there being a good 3/4 shelf (a stack about a foot and a half high) full of trucker/CBer records by the time I got through.
Quite a collection.
I put them right under "records in yiddish", for no particular reason.

Okay, so I have to ask.

For those that actually have, or have had, one of these contraptions......and used it. Do, or did, you feel like the biggest goomba in the world spouting off all those weird slang phrases?

Are you kiddin'? That was the best part!

I was watching Smokey and the Bandit tonight while on the phone with a friend. She was poking fun at me for still having a CB in my truck. I realize I am a bit of a hick, but I wonder how many people still have a CB.

I still have a CB in my van.  I have had that van for 30 years.  I remember laying on the carpet at night screaming with laughter at what was said on the CB.  It was fun cheap entertainment.  People say anything on a CB.

"We gotta mighty convoy, truckin through the night. Yeah we gotta mighty convoy aint she a beautiful sight" .. C.W. McCall, I think it was his only hit (dang showing my age now).

We had 23 channel in dad's car, and a 40 ch. base in the house, with a Super Penetrator antenna on the roof (damn that sounds kinky now a days). That all got me into radio - first cb, then swl (shortwave listening) and finally a ham at age 16. My license expired last year, and I haven't been on the air in years. Oh well, maybe one of these days I'll give it another go around.

The qsl card reference was funny. I had a lot in the cb contacts, running a slightly modified Cobra 40 ch. ssb radio. Then as a ham I had thousands of cards from all over the world.
