Why DO looks matter so much in today's society?

Looks have always mattered. People are easily impressed with the packaging, which is why propaganda is such a potent tool.

Wanna make something of it, Shorty?

Well Ali...the answer lacks poetry but it's a reasonable answer.

When this thread was started, the question of whether or not height mattered was asked. The majority of women said it did and gave their reasons why. Then another question was asked: Why does height matter period? Based on the emotions that flared, this thread became more about height. Are we all satisfied with the answer "It's more pleasant to have sex with something pretty" response?

my first dominant's screen name was quazimodo.  although he didnt have a hunchback, he was tall and grossly overweight and a slob and knew how to play me emotionally and physically as though i was an instrument made just for his use.  we never actually had sex, because he was totally impotent.

*edited cause my puter screwed up...or i did....*

all that said, we had a little over 4 wonderful miserable years together.  wonderful because we were together, miserable because i had to watch him slowly die from the health issues he suffered from.  and at last die at home in my arms.

so no, its not all about "something pretty".  TheEngineer thinks i'm gorgeous but i think he's pretty biased.  i'll say i'm average at best.  chemistry and personality make up for more than the skin we're wrapped in.

I said the majority of women pixie. Not all. You're part of the .01% of women who ignore looks all together. And, at the same time, I 'did' say there was somebody out there for everyone. Even a slob of a man.[:@]

I like tall men. I am also crazily attracted to asian men (with long hair, preferably). Can't usually get them in the same package. However, I have been married to a shorter-than-me asian man for 15+ years. He's a great dancer. I'm ready for someone taller than me (love to snuggle up to a manly chest or shoulder!) - don't care if he can dance or not. And I'm breaking out the heels!

But does height matter? It definitely affects how you react to someone, what it feels like to be physically standing next to them. Looking up feels different that looking down. Why else do subs kneel so much? Is it going to be a critical factor for everyone? No, obviously not.

auburnvixen -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/17/2009 7:59:18 PM)

I am 5'10" and prefer men over 6'. I do mean prefer - I don't count someone out if they are 5'9" to 6'. I have an occasional partner who is exactly my height; my former Master was a couple of inches shorter than I, but loved to see me in heels. But as someone said earlier, the men who turn my head are over 6' because that's my preference and what attracts me - it's not my requirement.

I have noticed, though, that many (not all) shorter men tend to be blustery and domineering to make up for their shorter stature. I find their attitude profoundly annoying.

popeye1250 -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/17/2009 8:17:38 PM)

Vixen, they call that "little man syndrome."

As for me I wouldn't mind going out with a woman who's 6'2" or 6'3" or even taller if she was slender.
And at the other end of the spectrum 4'10" or 5'0".
I like petite women.
And tall women.
And all the ones in between.

Actually I have participated in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I stand by my statements.

taken from Reachout.com.au

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a counselling technique that is used by many clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors. Some therapists will specialise in this form of therapy while others will use some of the techniques to help you work through particular difficulties. The therapy is based around helping you understand, manage and change your thoughts (cognitions) and actions (behaviour). This form of therapy has been shown to be very effective for a whole range of things but is particularly effective if you have depression or anxiety.

JDE I tend to be very introverted however most people who meet me day to day and even those who know me quite well would never guess this as I have developed strategies over the years to overcome this.  So part of my personality is still that I am introverted and I still feel incredibly uncomfortable at times when meeting people, making presentations, talking with strangers etc ...it is just that I have learnt ways to make it less noticeable.

I am happy to talk more with you on the other side if you want to discuss this further so as not to derail this thread. [:)]

People can and do change their personalities. Your personality is in a constant state of flux. This is the key fact in cognitive behavioral therapy.

I believe you meant to say THEORY. Even then you're stretching the idea, as most psych people (all the ones I've met and they say the same thing) will state that the personality is *you* and you can't change *you*. If something makes you angry, it makes you angry. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help reduce the visceral reaction (behavior) in response to the anger (cognition) but you're *still* gonna get angry.

I agree with others. What's wrong with having preferences? Essentially you're saying that we shouldn't have preferences... period. Some people are unable, or unwilling, to change some things that you, or others, see as changeable.

I can no more change the fact that I'm attracted more to men who are around my height or taller than me, than I can change the fact that I'm attracted to guys whose personalities gel with mine. I see no reason to be talked down to for having a preference, even if it creates a limit. If I can't submit to someone who's shorter than me... and I'm looking for someone to submit to... I'm going to instantly rule out everyone shorter than me.

Just like if I were only attracted to black men, I would rule out any non black men as potential partners. I know some men who do *just* that on a basis of race.

Why is it a problem?

(also, as an aside, wandersalone I do have to compliment your new picture as well; that top is a gorgeous color for you)

I for one don't even find that true. It's not more pleasant and might be in fact  very boring, speaking only from my experience of course.

I can't wait 'til you see my arms and legs - my mates are convinced I'm a dwarf and I could really do with your opinion on the matter. Does this have to be a barrier between us, Marie? Can't you just tell your family and friends not to laugh at the dwarf when we're introduced in order to keep the peace?

BigSi2009 -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/18/2009 5:14:26 AM)

Height doesn't have to matter but yes it can do, and does for me.  As a man of 6 foot 7 inches, sometimes more in shoes, I find that I get a lot off attention from much smaller women.  I'm not sure but I imagine they see me as their protector etc.  But I would prefer to meet women who I consider tall or above average in height so ideally around 5 10 so they are still smaller even in heels or perhaps 5 7/8 as a lower limit.

Dominating a much smaller woman feels easier for me, however its also much more difficult sex positions wise.  From behind is the best example as well you can probably imagine the picture of 6 foot 7 versus 5 foot 1.  I used to get so bored of very small women mailing me on dating sites a few years back.  So now I look for women of a certain height, though must admit I had less responses from those.  Not sure why that is.

Sundowner -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/18/2009 6:21:50 AM)

FR

I think height matters, but as a part of the cocktail which makes up that mysterious "chemistry" between two people.

I've not read the thread in full but a speedread suggests there are plenty of people - girls mostly - for whom height is not part of a mix of factors but is a standalone deal-killer.

From them I differ.

For me the chemistry is either there or it isn't and whilst I prefer slim I have fancied fatter girls; whilst I prefer short I have fancied taller girls; whilst I prefer blondes I have fancied brunettes and whilst I prefer rich I have fancied poor.

(Any slim, short, rich blondes out there - just saying [;)]).

And somewhere there was a comment on changeable v unchangeable factors. Fancying someone seems to me to be a subconcious evaluation but I think one's initial evaluation is purely on the physical (and thus pretty immutable) factors. You see a girl across the room and regardless of whether she's educated or not, religious or not, wealthy or not one's quick gut reaction looking at her is that she's either hot or she's not hot.

Love and respect and a host of other emotions then affect a twue and weal relationship. But whether I want to fuck her (sorry - beat her) is for me only slightly influenced by her height.

Amaros -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/18/2009 8:12:03 AM)

When it comes to size, there is something attractive about a woman you can wear like a hood ornament, but the more ample ladies can be a challenge, and they are often very warm, which is good.

sassysweet -> RE: Does size matter? (physical height, not cock length) (1/18/2009 8:30:06 AM)

ive been this tall (5'11) since i was around 10 yrs old so i dont view height the way most seem to. i was taller than most of the male authority figures in my life. It wasnt until i was in high school that i had a male teacher that was taller than me.
ive received some mean mail from Doms here saying things like, "Why would a man want someone THAT tall?" or "Geez, youd be eye level with me , why would I want someone that big?" or"Youd be like fucking with a man!" That is not the best way to write to a female seeking a Dom..lol..and how that last question has to do with fucking a man is beyond my scope...uh i DO have female genitalia..lol
i dont have my pic placed on my profile and most assume im HUGE like the Greenbay Packers kinda deal..lol..and they are intimidated by the mere mention of height. This makes me wonder about their sense of identity.
i also seem to have men (some sub some Dom) write to me and ask me to Domme them because they assume because i am tall that i switch. *sighs
People people people...just because a girl is tall does not mean that she is or wants to Domme anyone at anytime. What has my height got to do with my submissiveness?
ive been with tall men. ive been with short men..Men are Men. You either have chemistry with the person or you do not.
