And by the way, what's amusing isn't the amount itself, that's besides the point.  It's the reaction to the amount that's absolutely hilarious and hypocritical of so many.  Bush got slammed 4 years ago for spending so much on the inauguration, but this year it's "a good thing, omg!", many of who were the same people who slammed Bush 4 years ago.

Dnomyar -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 5:34:09 AM)

Presidents do not spend anything on an inauguration. The people around him are spending the money.

My mistake for assuming that most people would find it obvious that I didn't literally mean Bush himself spending the money. :p

TNstepsout -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 6:02:08 AM)

Oh good grief. $150 mil is nothing for an event as large as this one. It probably generated MANY times that much in revenue for local businesses, airlines, etc.... Which means, in the end, a lot of that money will trickle back into the coffers in the form of taxes.

No, your mistake was not understanding the basics of life.....

If a republican does something it's bad
If Bush does something it is beyond bad and totally evil
If a democrat does something it's good.

See, really easy once you get the hang of it.

Why were so many of the same people with this this viewpoint criticizing Bush's inauguration 4 years ago then?  That's the humorous part.

I spent $150 Million on tributes to my Dominants this past year.

You mean to tell me I could have thrown my own "Prom Night 2"?

I don`t recall anyone criticizing bush`s party.

Can you show the examples of this?

Or is that bullshit you imagined?

~~~~~~~~~
Knock knock...fuzzie math time is over!.....real math will now return to our regularly scheduled program![:D]
So far as we know,bush`s party cost over (slightly)what this one did, with less than half the people showing up,400,000.
Obama`s gig covered more that double the people than what bush`s did(over a million), for the same (or slightly less) money.
I`d say that was a stellar start.[:D]
Twice the value for the same money!
Obviously the funny part is the crow eating and the wiping of the egg of one`s face.
      You think that's funny?  Just wait until they suddenly discover how women are treated under radical Islam and decide that they care after all.
Owner59 -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 7:16:55 AM)
no blogs please.and especially no whiny right wingy lunatic fringe blogs....
news articles or opinion pieces
My recollection was the disastrous news from Iraq with a hundred GIs  getting blown apart evey month with road side bombs,............................................ and the"decider" defending it and Donald Rumsfeld.
I don`t recall any hoop-la about this.
~~~~~~~~~~

Maybe  you`ll step up and explain why bush spent more that double what Obama spent per person?His name callers seem content to ignore this little detail in favor of school yard fun.

Or are we still operating with bush-logic?Where things like numbers,words,dates,etc. mean different things on different days.

bestbabync -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 7:34:20 AM)

this is so hypocritical:

seems many blue collar balls were cancelled or suffered poor turn out!

edit to add another reliable source...HA!

You say that so flippantly.Like that suffering is just a talking point to banter with.If you gave a shit about the issue you might have a once of credibility.

Actually as a proud liberal and Democrat,I (and most liberals) have known about these issues far longer than it was popular for conservatives to chide us over them.

<Just to set the record correctly,ei post-bush,[:D] liberals are the bleeding hearts with more causes than money to spend on them.Conservatives(not neo-cons) are the folks who don`t want government-everything and a humble foreign policy,less welfare etc.>

Liberal know about Africa,South America,the 3rd world in general.It`s liberal who are trying to get women started in businesses in the 3rd world b/c liberals have always know how much worse women fare in the 3rd world.They are 2nd class citizens,treated the worst and suffer the most slavery and abuse.

http://www.salon.com/news/1999/02/04news.html

Like this article.About Tom Delay,slave labor.

Of course I didn`t hear a peep from you or the other republicans.I do remember Al Frankin mentioning it tho, and getting criticized for mentioning it.That horrible liberal,now a Senator.......[:D][:D][:D] jsut won`t stop do`n that liberally stuff...

Of course there`s that little detail that your party basically help established Sharia law(the bad version) over millions of Iraqis.An unfortunate result of one of those "tough decisions"[8|] your leader made,but something your party won`t own up to.

I don`t recall any outrage from you when that happened.Why the sudden interest?

What`s changed?

Maybe if you'd read you'd see that blog quoted AP Writer Will Lester for the 2005 inauguration, and AP for the 2009 one.

Last I checked, Associated Press wasn't a blog.

Mercnbeth -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 8:01:29 AM)

Come on - 'Change-Fest 2009!'  is over; yesterday's news. The stars, Hollywood and political, have gone home to their mansions, the carbon has been spent for their private jets, the personal assistants properly tucked away after a good days partying. On to the next 'event'.

Any party and good time in these times is to be appreciated. Good music, good visuals, and in this case - GREAT pomp and ceremony worthy of stature of this nation and ANY man who holds the office. It was a great launching! Whether it will resemble the Titanic or the Queen E II requires a cruise.

Sarah Palin made them realise that they wanted liberated women after all. Although I think in all logic, she should have had the opposite effect, but these conservatives carry their hearts on their sleeves, like big children.

bestbabync -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 8:06:37 AM)

why mention Palin in this thread?

kittinSol -> RE: $150 million for inauguration (1/21/2009 8:08:15 AM)

Coz, she's, like, a wommin.
