MzMia -> 170 Inaugural Balls and counting/City of Gridlock/Schools Closed until Wednesday--Celebrating Obama! (1/17/2009 10:46:51 AM)

170 Inaugural Balls and counting, City of Gridlock, Schools closed until Wednesday, the Nations Capital area is doing NOTHING now, except Celebrating Obama's Inauguration.

It is hard to describe all the excitement and activities going on in the area.
Okay, all the local schools in D.C. Maryland and VA are closed until Wednesday!
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Almost all the hotels in the area are booked, there is grid lock 24/7, and people are everywhere here in the DC area.
Superstars are in town, celebrities and politicians, and people from all over the world are here for the inaugural events.
Here is a partial list of the 170 Inaugural balls, but believe me there are many smaller events that are not on the list.
The line up for the big free concert on Sunday, is enough to make MzMia consider going. {But she is NOT}.
There is a vibe, an electricity, a real spirit of excitment in the air.
One of the problems is, the temperature today 22, last night the temperature went down to about 10 degrees.
It is the coldest it has been in this area, in 5 years

I am sure there will be a lot of coverage on C-Span and all the cable channels.
I am fairly certain they will show the huge concert on Sunday.

There is so much going on here in the D.C. area I could write for hours.
But for those of you interested in Inaugural Events of unprecedented proportions look at some of the links.

I have never seen this city so alive and so electric in all my life.
Washington D.C., many across the U.S.A. and the World will be celebrating the Inauguration of Barack Obama, this is history at one of it's finest hours, and it is a joy to be alive to see this historic event!

That's true, mike.
I wish it was not so damn freakishly cold now.
Hell last week it was in the upper 40's!
Why so damn cold now?

I was laughing to myself though.

I always said it would be a COLD day in America when we elected a Black President.
I think the weather is fitting.

Yep.  Overkill is only uncouth when it's republicans doing it, not when it involves the dear leader.

Some people are whining only because they weren't invited to the ball.

Nobody is whining here, kitten - we're merely laughing at what the emperor's  followers believe to be a "fine new suit".

       I'm stealing this, Mia.  I just thought I would tell you that.

     I thought I would try to be helpful and post a link to something very desireable to those who will be attending...
http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod230102 , but wouldn't you know it?  They are sold out.

       He hasn't even taken office yet, and already there are shortages, and people freezing in the streets....[8|] *

*Sorry.  That one was just too easy.

I have heard that every hotel/motel in a two-hour radius of DC is booked.  Unfortunately, my company, located about 15 miles from DC, and a mile from the major east-west interstate, never closes and we're expected to show up as usual.  Should be interesting.

Mass transit, though....truly going to be a nightmare.

Too lazy to even rub their hands together to stay warm. They wouldn't last long in Russia let me tell you.[8|]

When Bush was elected in 2001 the Republicans spent 40 million on the parties. The libs were going crazy. Now it is a wonderful thing that Obama and his clan are spending 140 million..Another double standard for the chosen one..

MarsBonfire -> RE: 170 Inaugural Balls and counting/City of Gridlock/Schools Closed until Wednesday--Celebrating Obama! (1/18/2009 8:28:09 AM)

servantforuse,
I think you are looking at it the wrong way. They spent $40 million celebrating Bush getting in... they are now spending $140 million in the celebration that he's out on his ass!

I tend to think of this as a two sided party: One, a celebration of America finally hitting a major signpost that shows we ARE getting over racisim in this country, and two: a celebration yjat the US survived the worst assault on it's Consitution in it's history. These maligant waesels (as on GOP hardliner put it) need to be sent packing, and if we ever see them again, it will be in a court of law on warcrimes charges.

pahunkboy -> RE: 170 Inaugural Balls and counting/City of Gridlock/Schools Closed until Wednesday--Celebrating Obama! (1/18/2009 10:25:54 AM)

critisizing this- I mean really?  What did you expect, a funeral?  People all depressed?

as the left was told for the past 8 years- get over it.

the fact is that the GOP could have put up mccain in 2004, or Ron Paul in 08.  but they did not.  they restored dignity to the white house.

and now the country is on the eve of a civil war.  the left will blame to right and vice versa.  but THAT wont fix anything.

all of a sudden there have been 12 bail outs.  the bail out SHOULD have stopped everything.  this is not business as usual.

but not to worry, during a armed revolution, it wont matter if your shoes match your bag, and of the fashion is co-ordinated.

I dont think many have any idea what we are in for.    so this rage per the right or the left makes no sense.    be sure to wear the right outfit to your car jacking.
