I myself would have restricted selection to living people and not cartoon characters. But the previously mentioned Coyote and Roadrunner certainly rank right up there, as do Rocky and Bullwinkle, Beany and Cecil, Popeye and Olive Oyl, and Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

Among living people, Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon. John Steed and Emma Peel. Archie and Meathead.

All I can think of now. Aaahhhh, oxycodone.
