The only thing I could consider "happened" was as a teenager I had the opportunity to be the protector of my sister when she was 'wronged' in a bad way...

Since then I've always felt a bit inspired to be a protector of sorts... and I'm turned on by the 'delicacy' of a girl...

But I would still have to say either I was 'born this way' or grew into it through natual healthy processes of life...

I started bossing boys lonngggg before anything bad ever happened to me. I was the smallest in the class and running the show. Even putting the boys on the fence so they could not leave. They had to make me smile or do something cute before I would give them a break. Only one did I say he never had to go on the fence again... but he liked it... so he was there talking to me as I chased the other's down and put them there too. I have often wondered what he turned out to be!

I trace my abnormal behavior back to the religious upbringing as a child. I was an alter boy for over 5 years from the ages of 10-15, specializing in weddings & funerals (thats were the tip money was - IF you could hide it from the Priests) for the last two. Never once was I sexually molested by a Catholic Priest.

The trauma of, obviously, being singled out as the ONE ugly boy made me the vengeful sadist I am today.

I've had a buttload of traumatic experiences in my life... but most of the ones that had -anything- to do with my fetishes and atypical behaviors were because I was already happily ensconced in the land of the freaks. I had a number of issues until I stopped fence-riding and pretending to be something I wasn't... at which point, the folks who couldn't cope generously cut themselves out of my life and saved me the trouble of uncomfortable hate-filled encounters... and a lot of people that I didn't expect a positive response from (like my dad and my ex-husband) surprised the heck out of me in really pleasant ways.

Okay, let me rip into that article...

Sex with kink is like food with spice. Without kink, sex is kind of... same. Boring, Vanilla. That said, many many people like it that way, and far be it from me to judge them

There are scenes and fetishes too extreme for me. So does that mean I am NOT kinky?

The article assumes that there is a kinky way and a non-kinky way. Period. No shades of gray. And never addresses what IS kinky. Is a blow job kinky? Positions other than missionary? Anal sex? Spanking?

Not to mention that a LOT of D/s takes place OUTSIDE the bedroom. I have had disciplinary relationships that were essentially D?s with no sex whatsoever.

To the OP:
Don't worry about bringing the whole thing up, the fora are here for discussion and this is a fairly common question.

No early trauma here, but life experiences shape everyone's perceptions. For me, being in the wrong relationship (for wayyyy too long) helped me figure out who I am and what I need to be happy. This lifestyle is often spoken of as a journey, and accepting who you really are and what you really want and need is part of that (at least, for me), no matter how you got to the point of "you are here". What matters is what you decide to do next.

If some people I've never met (and don't really care to) want to label my desires as sick/kinky/abnormal/whatever, that isn't my problem.
